Squeeky shifter

i drive an automatic and everytime i put the shifter in drive it makes this annoying, squeeky sound. does anyone know what that could be and how to get rid of it?

Does the actual shifter make a squeak or is it something else squeaking when you put it in gear? Is it only one short squeak or is it a continuous squeak while it's in gear?

Is it when you move the shifter, or when the transmission engages the gear and puts a load on the drivetrain?

If it's the shifter, take off the center console and see if you can locate the source. If it's when the gear engages, I'd suspect your engine/tranny mounts or driveshafts.

yeah, i might just have to take the center console apart and oil it up. i dont think it has anything to do with the engine. is taking the console apart hard?

Nah, it's pretty easy. I was going to type it all out for you, but it's easier just to give you a LINK.
