I'd call them today, but the first thing i'd think is maybe you have a wire crossed. Also if you have a laptop hook it up to the car and reset the ecu. Just need the software they gave you and a serial cable.

if I have a wire crossed wouldnt that affect the way the car runs?

I have absolute no problems with the car running/idling/ performance...

also if I hook up the laptop with the program how would that solve this problem?

If the ABS light is turning on, there should be an ABS code associated with it. First thing to check, too, is the brake fluid level.

you can check to be sure the piggy is operating properly.

I'm with otter on this one though, your problem probably lies in the brake system. start with a fluid check and a trip to autozone to hook up your obdII system to see if there is a code. Sounds to me like a sensor is malfunctioning. Don't take my word for it, but unless the brake light comes on this should not affect the brakes at all. Unless of course you need ABS

You have to go to Mitsu to pull an ABS code. Service manual says you need a MUT-III scantool, which is proprietary to Mitsu. It's that white port under the dash next to the OBDII port.

to answer your ? i was saying hook up the laptop and reset the ECU. the software that came with the piggy gives you the ability to do that without unplugging the battery and that whole process.

Won't work on an ABS light. ABS isn't part of the OBDII system.

They've never found my piggyback, though it's just sitting in the glovebox.

Even if they saw it, I'm not sure they'd know what it was. It's not like an S-AFC, no display or flashing lights. They'd probably think it was an alarm module of some kind.

Just tell them the black box is for your iPod.

I wouldn't put off checking this out, though. Brakes aren't something you want to put off. I still bet it's your fluid level, though.

The software that came with the piggy back has no interaction with the cars ECU at all. The reset function in the R4 software is for the piggyback unit itself.

I was not aware that the ABS computer was independant of the ECU, good information Otter.

I wouldn't be too concerned with bringing it to Mitsu with an ABS light on, at least in the light of this new information I wouldn't. The piggyback can't be affecting the ABS light, have you checked the fluid as suggested?
