Do correct me if i am wrong...

but aren't anytime you take ur car to the dealership to be fixed under warranty, they make you sign a paper saying that if it turns out not being under warranty u'll have to pay for what was being worked on...they can't just take a car in and then start working and decide its not under warranty and all of a sudden hold ur car hostage right?

Depends on how dodgy your dealer is. the arrangement should always be for them not to do any job you haven't asked for without your permission.

if something ****s up, you shouldnt have to pay.. but if you get a regular check up done on your car, you'll pay.
my rear control arm bushings were faulty..and they replaced them and the control arms no questions asked. not a dime outta my pocket.

Check your local laws, as well. Michigan has a law requiring a written estimate be provided to and signed by the car owner before any work is done.

What happened to me was that they suggested pulling maintenance on my car, and I told them that I do all the maintenance since I choose all the best fluids and Mitsu chooses crap. They told me that if any of the parts they offered service on gets faulty, I would be denied warranty. I just ended up challenging them to not giving me warranty Ill take them to the Customer Services Bureau... So they chilled
