new steering wheel

is there a brand above the rest? like momo? or...? also how hard are they to install with setting off an airbag?

I assume you mean without setting off the airbag. That part is easy, just disconnect the battery before you start removing it. However, before you get a new steering wheel, you have to figure out which ones will actually fit your 06, since it seems that the 06's have a different setup than the 04-05's and Evos.

To answer your question, Momo and Sparco seem to be the top choices with steering wheels.

Can you get aftermarket steering wheels with airbags to suit ours? I'm not really looking to change, just curious. I know some of the mechanics my Dad sees regularly (he's a Snap-on guy) are sooo careful around airbags, they disconnect the battery and get their multimetres out to double check there is no current or whatever that might set it off, and even after all that are really careful in making sure its not aimed at them when installing it if they can help it, they can deliver a serious hurt!

ya air bag goes off when your working on it would hurt i have seen it happen to a guy at my work putting the interior pieces back in and the air bag broke his hand

Remember after disconnecting the battery you may want to step on the brake just to drain whatever current may be left. I did that before installing my wheel w/airbag.
