Speedometer question.

If the Speedometer only marks to 120mph, how you do you know your exact speed if you have all the basics and an turbo kit installed?

thanks

By having someone clock you on a closed track. You could also calculate your speed by taking the rpm, gear ratios, and magical math to come up with the car's speed at any rpm. Mysz made a graph of this quite some time ago.

if your doing 120 ......1st , I don't think it will matter the exact speed because you'll be "ABOUT", 50mph over the speed limit if your on a highway and guess what you don't just get ticket....YOU GO TO JAIL....and you'll be lucky if you even get your car back......ps nice 1st post

Well past 120.. I'd say your speed is.. so fast there isn't a label for it.. haha jk

But yea have someone clock their speed next to yours on a closed track, or just do the math. Now if only myz saved us some time... ahem graph ahem.. haha

I'd sig that quote, but it'd annoy you even more.

And yes, I cheat. I look the information up in "books".

For the OP:
A good datalogger program and cable will tell you exactly how fast you went, and you won't even have to take your eyes off the road to find out. For instance, the fastest I went on my way to work today was 73 mph.

Based on a theoretical 7000rpm rev limiter. Yes, you can go faster in reverse than you can in 1st gear.

Sure. Here you go. This one is based on a theoretical 7000 rpm rev limiter *AND* a locked torque converter. Actual speed vs rpm would look like curves instead of straight lines, and will be a little lower.

^just theoretical, dont think exact, but if it is true, maybe coz its only 4 gears, the 4th is really long ?

I'd be interested to hear from someone with a turboed RA about their top end.
