mmm... baked headlights.... bon appetite

Well, Smartie and I finally got around to removing the yellow corners. We found some FAQs and how tos from a Suburu forum.

What we found best was baking them at 170 degrees fahrenheit for 5 mins to get them slowly warmed up, then 200 degrees fahrenheit for another 5 mins or so.

After we peeled them apart, there was enough sealant there to close the housing back up. Rebaked at 200 degrees for another 10 mins. Pushed the two sides together, then let cool for 30mins, then rebaked again to ensure that it was properly sealed. Then let cool again.

Baking was the scariest part. It took a while at first because I kept opening the oven every minute! I was scared the housing would melt to the baking sheet! There was no meltage at all actually!

Our camera ran out of batteries so at one point we took pics with Smartie's cell phone.

Here are the pics of the whole process! Oh yeah. Smartie debaged a small Hello Kitty decal on the front bumper since she got an Emblem instead.

tried that with no luck. It would only heat certain areas. The baking allowed for even heat distribution. I was able to just pry a little with a flat head screw driver then using both hands just to pull each side apart in one slow controlled motion.

it looks clean.. but by law you need to have yellow reflectors in front and red reflectors in back, visible from the sides of the car. That's a big reason to get hassled by the cops here in CA.. not sure if thats the law where you live..
good job regardless

yep we get hassled here too! but we said screw it! lol. We knew what we were getting into.

For headlights we are using the Luminics Pure Blue 6000k, and for signals the PIAA xtreme white bulbs.

think you guys could take a few low light/night shots with the different light levels...ie. parking, low beams, high beams, and turn signal..? just curious because i always wanted the clear outter corner markers to be clear and when i ordered my first set of projectors they came clear but the halos didnt work and the second set they sent me now have amber corners...

oh yea and nice job very jdm looking

you should also be careful because some insurance claims may not be covered because your car is not legit.

how do they look close up as far as weather or not theres an obvious gaping hole where the reflector should be? Because if it looks like somethings obviously missing...i wouldn't like that.
