from the TSB it will change your mivec switchover from 3500 to 4500, if that's how we are supposed to read it. I would take my car to another dealership man, if they are going to adjust your valve lash with the car cold and are telling you that you HAVE to get the reflash??? that's minus TWO for them if you ask me.

that was the whole point of the thread anyway, to say you need to have a valve lash adjustment. I'd say you are right on topic

ok just got off the phone with dealership #2.

just wanna say EFF YOU RAY LAKS MITSUBISHI!

the adjustment has to be done hot.

the service manager checked with a tech to make sure when i called,
and the tech laughed when he asked if it has to be done hot or cold!
he told him never adjust a lash when its cold.

so i have to still wait for the parts from ray laks,
but i will definitely be going to dan georger mitsubishi on thursday or friday to get the lash adjusted.

oh! and one more thing!
It doesnt have to be kept overnight, and its only one service hour! at 84$
WOO!

*end threadjack*

the valve lash is the tolerance between the valve stems and rocker arms, too small and the valves could stay open and collide with pistons, too large and they may not open enough.

Ok, so a while back I took my '04 to the dealer and asked them to adjust the valves related to MIVEC and it definately cost me about $300 for them to adjust, apparently. Anyone have any input onto whether I got screwed or not? (Maybe they adjusted something different?)

depends
the scheduled warranty work package is about 300$.
if it was just the valve lash adjustment... be upset, unless they found problems too.

It's standard maintenence, so if you got the free maint. for 60k deal, then the dealer will do it for free. Otherwise you gotta pay.
