Projector Headlight Question

Yes, another projector headlight question. I searched but i couldn't find the answer. Anyhow, im wondering, is there any way to rewire the harness so that the "high" beams and "low" beams turn on without having to manually turn the high beams on. I am talkign about, like...turning the headlight switch 3 notches, where its the regular lights but so the high and low beams turn on. Wow this is hard to explain, but i hope you know what i mean.

Regards,

Adam

I'm going to say no, that there isn't a way. The front ECU controls the headlights, and it's programmed to not allow the high and low beams to be on at the same time.

Dont' get me wrong on this, but if i'm correct (with my little knowledge of automotive electronics) The highbeam button/tab/etc on the car triggers a function in the ECU, the ECU puts out an output and flips a relay to turn on the high beams and then to turn off the low beams. If you're driving the car with the low beams on, i can actually hold the highbeam's on manually as if i were flicking my high's quickly without actually turning them on and shutting off the lows. I know this is bad for single bulb setup's but it works, so i don't see why you can't hack the system apart to rig something up to flip both on. I'll talk to my co-workers about it sometime today and ask because they do a lot of automotive electronics work.

This is kinda like the whole fog lights on without headlights concept.. just with the lows/highs... Which i still never got around to fixing the foglight thing. (Reason for failure, the test part i purchased had no backwards protection for the circuit which in turn caused it to be fried. I bought more chips to reprogram, but never got around to it.)

Yeah, i have heard of this being done. Odd thing is, when my brother in law got his headlights done (300m), they were rewired, and without even asking, his high beams and low beams both stay on. It looks awesome and super bright. After this, im assuming there is some way to do this.
