Another Autocross....Chicago Trophy Hunting
Another Autocross....Chicago Trophy Hunting
6/24/07 --
Completed my 5th event of the season. This time I went up to Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL where the TSSCC was putting on an event. I had heard that their STS class was real competitive and had some good drivers....so I went to see how I measured up...and try to "steal a trophy".
There were 11 entries in the class, which has been typical all year long wherever I have been.
We got 6 runs at the course: 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon. The 3 in the morning was on a wet course as it had rained the night before and was overcast. I finished those runs in 1st with times of:
50.406
49.386
48.254
I guess I am a better driver in the wet than the other guys, because the afternoon runs were all dry in sunny conditions.
I ended up 3rd in class overall (again!) after the afternoon session with times of:
47.360
47.190
46.962
I was 1.9 out of 1st and .9 out of second.
I was happy that each run brought faster times....and I was clean (no cones) all day long. Funniest thing all day was a guy (who ended up 6th in class) in a 2.5 Suby RS that asked me to go ahead and go back to Indy.
So on the year, that is 4 - 3rd place finishes and 1 - 1st place finish. All "podium" finishes so far....let's see if I can reign in some more 1st place trophies for the year!
Here is the in car video of the best run of the day

YESSSSS.....That was the awesome ,....keep it up bro and keep winning those trophies for sure....Location ....funny isn't it you drive like that at a track and you win trophies , you drive like that on the street you get your car impounded....lol....just a useless thought ......
Thanks guys.
It's funny, when I go to events where people don't know me or the car, they get a big surprise.
Definitely a sleeper car in this class if fully prepped (my car is not yet)....just have to keep pushing to get more wins.
