so i joined the marines and....
im in the military and alot of my buddies whove been or recently gone to japan werent able to ship their cars, and as for the skyline yeah they are cheap but once you figure the conversion and then shipping its usually way outa range but good luck if you can figure it out its worth it.
Uh congrats?
I wouldn't waste time on bringing a USDM Ralliart to Japan when it would cost much cheaper to by a better performing JDM car from there, IE: Silva, GT-R, Evo, RX7 and Supra etc.

Yeah, Im in the Air Force and Ive been hoping to go over there, If I am stationed over there I will be there for three years so if I did decide to bring something back I would have plenty of time to save up for it. But I thought something in the emissions or something like that will keep the car from being registered here, but then again I saw a right hand drive Subaru the other night so I have no clue.
all kinds of criteria you have to meet first, all the way down to the nuts and bolts
if you are going overseas couldn't you just get a few of the parts we don't have here and just bring them back with you? most of what you can get there is available here now anyway
I am not sure I would even keep the RA if I had to leave it here. as you said you will be pretty well off, comparatively speaking of course, by the time you get back so why wouldn't you just figure out what you want then? even 2yrs down the road is a long time for the auto industry

Don't take the RA.
Hell, I wouldn't even buy a car over there. My brother is stationed there (Navy.) He was originally going to buy a motorcycle, but their public transportation is just too good.

no, I couldn't. but what otter says does make sense. you are in a foreign country, and everything is taken care of for you, do you need to drive?
edit: I also couldn't/wouldn't join the armed services. I don't like the idea of getting shot at anymore than I like the idea of not driving

Youre right....No can do!
They changed the years though
plus he has to be stationed there for a few years
married to a national
or in the chairforce... they seem to get away with alot
Even if he is lucky... it'll sit on the port and rust to death

...and bringing a car back stateside is harder or close to impossible ...
most conversion companies were shut down on the east and west coast...and if you do find one you'll be paying an arm and leg
I had free shipping through the military and only paid about $3000 for conversion...
the best way is probably send the parts via mail or TMO and find a company that can send clips... front end chopped off or rear chopped and weld it back together

i saw buy a S13 or s14 and mod it when you there.... and when its time to leave DISASSEMBLE everything and ship over some of your mods to the stats... Engine, and other things. then when your back in the states find a body and just put everything in it. haha. at least thats what i would do.
yeah, I am kinda curious about this also, cause I was thinking of doing the same thing, taking a 240 over there and getting some stuff...rb25 and such....
anyone know where to find the laws on this?
