so im planning on getting a ralliart (wish evo...but im 17 common..that aint gonna work), probably an 04. a local dealer has one for 13900 with 37k on it. thats alittle above bluebook if i remember correctly...but o well.

so back to where i was going with this, i have seen people talking about cheap mods, which i will want to do while paying the car off, and ive seen where people talk about a udp that adds 6-7 whp? what is that? i looked in the n00b thread at the language thing and it wasnt in there? maybe its just something too obvious im not getting it..idk. and i dont need some jerk answer from someone who thinks they are a hot shot or whatever, im just trying to learn..like most of you had to do at some point too. also, i would consider buying a car from someone on here if they were somewhat close to me, around the madison/milwaukee/chicago area.

cheap mods??
RRM SRI, UPD and short shifter if you don't like the throw of the stock one.
The UPD is like a lightweight pulley, which takes less force to spin up therefore freeing up some hp technically.

The stock airbox isn't that bad i guess, you could always rock a drop in filter. But as far as cheap mods.. how much do you want to throw into the car? What do you expect to come of the car? IE: like what is your driving style, do you want to track it or drag it..? I went with the RRM SRI (Short Ram intake i think? runs about 150, but someone is selling on in the Lancer Private for sale section right now) RRM CBE (Catback exhaust) which is pricey at 500$ish shipped. Also have the Zacklee Engine dampener which i forget how much i paid but he doesn't make them anymore.

UDP stands for under drive pulley. not only is it much lighter than stock it is smaller in diameter too (hence underdrive) the combination of these two things make a big difference in inertia, and therefor net your 6-7 WHP and 9 WTQ. (wheel horsepower and wheel torque - usually in foot-pounds)

thanks guys, haha as soon as i posted this im like ooo yea its underdrive pulley! but ive heard that with switching those out..not the weight but if you go to a different size it will cause different amounts of stress and force needed for the other pulleys and it can mess some things up? not sure, thats what my brother said would happen with his svt. idk if he was just being cautious or not tho.

well...what i would do with the car? i plan on keeping it for a long time. I actually plan to put a turbo in it in about 9 months because i will be getting a bank account that im not about to touch till im 18 that has about 8k in it. I was thinking about CAI but i was wondering how much living in the midwest where it rains and snow would affect that with it bogging down and how freqent i would have to clean the filter. I would definatly throw and exhaust on it with the header ect. im not quite sure about this...bout would a different intake manifold help out, well i imagine it would but in what ways. Im going to have to start of slow with the mods like the exhaust, cai/sri, udp, those will get done first but then im open to suggestions abotu what to do after that. I am more conecerned about acceleration as opposed to top speed so i am going to want mods that help with low end torque if that helps out on some of your suggestions
