It's the way they develop torque (magnetically) rather than mechanically, as an engine does. It's, obviously, impossible for an engine to develop ANY torque at stall, since combustion requires the pistons to be moving. Electric motors develop torque at stall, since current (and therefore the magnetic field) can exist without the motor turning.

The problem with having 300 lbs of torque at 0 rpm is that it means absolutely nothing in terms of what you could do with gearing. Gearing multiplies torque, and torque is a force at a distance. Force = mass * accelleration. In the ralliart you get a pretty insane first gear that multiplies the torque by about 14X, which is why you pretty much rip through first gear instantly.

Anyways, with the prius, it has a CVT so you probably are never at 0RPM very long. You can't win with it in terms of gearing or torque because either your dividing your high torque at a low RPM or multiplying your low torque at a high RPM to get better accelleration.

Question is, how do you put a turbo on a prius?

171 to the flywheel... No offense but i wouldnt base my actual horsepower off a flywheelHP AND an open hood with Fan fed air.... Fans and open hoods will give you power you dont have.

It's actually done at the wheels. I asked the guys why it said flywheel, and it had something to do with their computer program either being set up wrong or it referring to part of the mechanism in the dyno itself.

I already mentioned the mods...
