starting noise when cold
starting noise when cold
hey everyone not sure if this is serious or not but last year in winter i noticed a noise when staring my car. the car will idle for about 10 seconds then i hear this noise that i can describe as a hammer hitting the underside of my car. it only makes one loud bang and thats it. then when it warmed up it went away so i didnt worry about it. now its starting to get cold over night again and the car is making this same noise and its concerning me. has anyone experienced this before or can someone give me an explaination for this. i havnt went to my dealer yet i just wanted your input. thanks a lot guys
Lift and secure your car then get under there. My guess is that there's a loose heat sheild or something similar on your exhaust, but you can't really know for sure without poking around at things and seeing if you can recreate the noise.
thanks for your input otter. i think i might take it to the dealer and let them know about it. i have thought of many things that it might be including the heat shield idea but i excluded that idea because its such a loud noise. do u think a heat shield could make a bang as loud as a hammer? i really hope its just a heat shield tho cuz i just bought a house and have no money to cover any costs but then again i still have warranty. thanks again for your input
