supercharger???
meh, I think the kit would run like a champ in the right hands. it's just a matter of getting it in correctly, seeing what could potentially cause issues before they do (such as fuel lines
) and moving forward from there. it's not like they made all the parts and that's the problem, they bought almost everything to size and put it together just like RRM did. RRM built the manifold, ran some intercooler piping, got a piggyback and the rest is generic; same thing with the RIPP kit. they just made a bracket, ordered a shaft and supercharger, ordered a pulley and piggyback, measured for a belt, etc. RRM nor RIPP manufacture turbo/superchargers, nor do they make fuel injectors or extrude/form pipe/fuel line. It's all in the quality, the installation, and then the tuning; it doesn't matter who bought the parts.

look at this hahaha FALSE ADVERTISING!!! Im almost positive this is the kit BBQ Allan got http://autoaccessorystore.com/home_n...=detail&id=796 It says no engine failures to date I guess they dont count the car catching on fire as an engine failure
yeah, but that can be attributed to bad install. remember, the tech that installed the kit supposedly bought Allans car from him, and then some. could be faulty parts, installation, or just a bad idea in general. I tend to lean towards the first and second explanations; if you took your time and identified problem areas/parts you could get this to run like a champ. it's just a supercharger kit after all, not a DIY space station

I would do it again IN A HEART BEAT.
I regret NOTHING, other than not being able to make my Dyno apointment the following day after the installation
It was a combination of:
- Luck
- Fuel line
As was stated, my buddy DID take care of things financially after all was said and done and I came out like a champ.
At the end of it all (SO WE SUSPECTED AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION):
the motor pulled the fuel line off the firewall (from torque-ing between shifts) where the T was made for the supplimentary injectors on the charge pipe.
I feel bad for my friend, but he stepped up, admitted what he did and took it like a man.

see, that's one easy thing to remedy, it's not like the supercharger blew apart and pieces went flying into the fuel lines. I keep saying that the kit will run like a champ, you just have to do the R&D involved just like any other "bolt on" kit. If you think any FI kit is "bolt on" for the RA you have been misled. Everything requires more work than you first thought.

I also have no problem stating that it would have been a killer ride.
Remember, the 'average' rule of thumb is 10lbs of boost will roughly DOUBLE your HP from N/A status under the right conditions.
My car was setup to run 11lbs w/METH injection with the 11lb pulley and the meth injection system (off the windshield washer tank none the less).
After watching my car burn up, I wouldn't say I am gun shy now....but I will definately have a closer hand (especially, as well as EYES) in the next build I do wether it's done by a 20 year veteran mechanic (as my friend was) or done in the back yard.
The time will come when a 2004 RalliArt or 4G69 powered Eclipse will make itself available for next to nothing in the next couple of years, as they will be FAR LESS desireable once the AWD RA's hit....and I think I will attempt this one (Super Charger Kit) more time because I know (even based on 4G69 Eclipse results) that the RIPP KIT is a GARUNTEED KILLER SYSTEM. It has powered numerous Eclipses with 4G69......yet only a few RA's.
I will put my reputation on the line of being a somewhat SANE person (maybe not...lol) and confidently say that the RIPP Kit (with the configuration I purchased - 11lbs w/METH) would have come DAMN close to 300 WHP.
Obviously I have nothing to back up my claim now, but with the amount of research I did and the examples I was shown in the Eclipse world.....the KIT makes serious power and if not for the limited availability might have been more popular.
All you have to do is look at what the average V5 G-Trim Vortec is able to do on OTHER cars when running 11lbs boost, get the average % gain and that should give you a rough idea.......simple as that.
Would I do it again ?
In a word......YES

I should clarify that statement a bit more.....LOL
Will I do it again ? YES ........I would love the chance to if a car becomes available for cheap cheap cheap.....that I will not use as a daily driver.
Will I take such chances with a nearly new ? (8 months old....fresh off the Dealer lot with 10 miles on it before I drive it home)
NO F*CKIN' WAY !......lol

I think now that my RA is no longer my daily driver, as I now have a brand new company truck (YAY!!) I might go the supercharger route when the time comes. So when I do get it, I might be asking some do and don't questions so that the same thing doesn't happen. This way there can be that other option for people. What all mods did you have done Allen to run 11 psi w/ Meth or was everything else stock?

As far as MODS to the car at the time (only the ones relative to the SC installation that didn't get removed):
- RRM/Magnaflo CatBack
- Custom 2.5" Downpipe using STOCK CAT (eliminating the CRUSHED pipe under the heatshield before the CAT) and added O2 bung for wideband.
Everything else came with the RIPP Kit.
I will be more than happy to answer ANY and all questions when the time comes, because like I said.....I WOULD do it again. All except for the fire at the end that is

hey anakin how was the power off the line?
i'm slowly getting on the S/C boat... and since your the only person i know of that had it, i turn to you..
with regards to that fuel like that got pulled off... what were you using for line/fittings
did you use steel braided lines?
basically i wanna figure out everything that could go wrong and take care of it while doing the install, this car is my daily driver so it needs to be reliable
did you use the stock crank pulley with this?
