how long do you think it would take for someone who failed miserably at a valve lash :-P

really tho, how tough would you say this is?
and when im done, i assume it would do me well to get an alignment?

Heh, might be worth it for you to pay for the install. It takes me 3 hours, by myself, to swap out all 4 corners. With a friend that time is usually cut at least in half. IMO, it's not hard, as long as you have the right tools (air compressor makes things a LOT easier.) Yes, it'd be a good idea to get an alignment, but wait at least a week before getting it, to allow things to settle.

Joho, remember since you're buying seperate springs and struts you have to get a spring compressor for the install... On top of that I'd suggest for you to have it installed.. haha

Also Brakes > perches... in my last post is what i meant.

jeez,
i need some ointment for the burns, you guys are flaming me left and right

I did talk to lsd, were working something out so far, but we have to check on the price of shipping and such first before we make anything concrete.

Brakes, rotors, strut bar and lower tie bar im sure I can handle... Im not a total noob guys...

The struts will prove to be a pain in the butt for sure. I do know i need a spring compressor, like i said, i did a strut on my old golf, that took a while to do cause the thing was so rusty. Never done fronts though... thats where it might get tricky...

rotors and pads are a piece of cake, 20 minutes a wheel.
plus with a mechanically inclinded friend helping, i should be all good for all these mods...

to my defense, getting top dead center without the stock under drive pulley.... not so easy... isnt my avatar enough for you guys

That's why I don't recommend people change out their struts without an air compressor. It's too much of a PITA with hand tools, and you risk breaking/rounding off bolts.

don't front Joho22, I gave you instructions how to do it another way and you still FAIL

just ****ing with you though. It took me forever to do figure out how to do it without the stock pulley. I had to have the head completely apart first

finally got the tires thrown on there RA.

SHOULD have cost me 530+tax,
but i showed up at my buddies goodyear with $20 worth of texas red hots,
(if you dont know what these are, they are awful for you, but awesome)
and they manager was there, said something like
"hey all you bums, tell your friends that just come here and hang out to be more like dom's friend... and bring food!"

he then knocked off the balancing off the install and threw in some free alignment.
(I really needed the alignment)

edit : Came to 480 for everything.

The old tires were SOOOO bad... i dont know if they would have lasted til this saturday. The wires were poking through so bad, it looekd liek the tire was about to fall apart. (that road trip this past weekend was probably not the best idea... 400mi)

Im paying ROLSD tomorrow morning for the perches and lower tie bar, so those will be on within the next two weeks... if its warm one day in buffalo ever again.

Tonight I think im gonna go get some royal purple... but i forget the grade we use in the RA's... sure its in the noob thread, ill check it in a min.

While we had the car in the air we did a quick check of the brakes, and it looks like i really can get away with only changing the back rotors and brakes this summer, but i think I might just wait a few mths before i change the front... but the back needs to be done pretty soon, approaching metal on metal.

Im still looking around for a good price on some Tein S-Tech springs...

If you're talking about the stock tires.. then yes the blow ballz... As for the perches and lower tie bar, becareful when taking your stock ones off make sure you soak it pretty well because I snapped on of them when I was trying to disconnect the bar from the perch itself, luckily I had bought the perches as well so I didn't need to worry about them. As for the Royal purple.. I've never tried it, i just run M1.

I dunno how your back brakes are worse than your front brakes.. When i replaced my pad I actually had about 50% on the front and 60% on the back after about 45K miles of hard driving. But now that i have the hawk hps's.. I'ma have to replace my rotors this coming season, just going to buy oem's.

wasnt talking about the stocks,
i had some tires that were real old...
just bought a full set of yokohama S.types.
pretty decent deal via tire rack.

What did you snap?

edit: and aobut the back brakes,
i dunno why back wore more... could alignment have anything to do with that?
my camber on my back left tire should have been -20 but it was +20...
thats how outta alignment i was.

o damn.. i don't think that'll affect your braking.. but it'll rip apart your tires. What the hell did you hit?

surprisingly with my driving style and road conditions, my cars alignment it still on point...

not if you have six point sockets and a good breaker bar!
