Block Heater install

Just wondering if anyone has installed a block heater on the ralliart yet, and how difficult it was to do.
The block heater is 30 bucks, but the dealer wants 120 for the install... bleh...

hey, this is a new one!

do you have pics of this device, or have any idea how it attaches? seems like if it's 30 and the dealer only wants 120 you have about an hour or so install time couldn't be too hard.

in my experience with block heaters, you have to knock out (or in) a frost plug, and then mount it there.

Never done one on the RA thou.

Well, according to the dealer the engine comes block heater ready. Supposedly there is plug on the back of the engine (near the firewall) to plug it into but difficult to get to. I have no clue where it could be at. haha

I did one on a 2.4 mivec outlander engine. The spot should be the same for the Ralliart... On the outlander, the metal circle to put off is hide a little behind the exhaust manifold... In my opinion, it's better to remove to ''headers'' to have a little more place to works. You should expect a little more than 1 hour to do it, : remove the header, put off the metal piece, install the heater, replace the header, add coolant and ''bleed it'' (remove the air) and finally place the wiring through the spot you want.

If you have skills in mechanic, you should be able to do it... If not, 150 plus taxes isn't too much for a ''proffessional'' installation.
