It's particles embedded in the paint, most likely. Buy a clay bar kit, read the instructions, then claybar your car. That'll get all that grit out.

+1.
New cars come with these little rust spots...called "rail dust". Basically car is sitting on a train car, train grinds its metal wheels against metal tracks, grinds its wheels to a stop, etc. ....all this sends tiny hot metal particles in the air that land on the cars it is carrying. They arrive at the dealership and the dealer just washes the car. It needs clayed.....

Clay that bish. Then give it a nice coat of wax.

{aside -- I think half of my posts now are just to supplement whatever Otter says. }

once a month is a bit extreme, ususally once a year is the most commonly used interval; it wipes away stuck particles (a lot of which are invisible) and creates a smooth, more even finish on your paint.

You need to wax your car directly after using the clay bar as it takes off most of the existing wax on the car.

Wash it up real nice, clay it up, wax, and damn you'll have one damn good looking car.
