OEM Oil Filter

Is there any difference between the two OEM oil filters offered? One is stubby and fat and the other is long and skinny. I tried to search but could not find a complete answer. Thanks in advance.

Other than shape, not that we know of. Not sure if anyone has cut them apart, yet. I stick with the stubby fat one because it likely has more filter materal than the skinny one, but not by much. Both are listed as acceptable in the parts catalogs, so Mitsubishi really doesn't acknowledge a difference between the two.

I know the evo's run the fatty one and are told to stay away from the skinny one. I just ordered a case of fat ones from RussellM for a decent price. I've always used the fat ones and rarely ever touch the skinny ones.

The parts guy at the dealership told me the fat one flowed oil better than the skinny one so I went with that. Thanks for the responses. I will stick with the fat one from now on.
