lol you're not being very specific. my .02 is that if you call your front bumper a bar, you shouldnt be removing it for any reason because you'll end up like those guys that duct tape or suspend their body kits with bungee chords from the outside.

removing the front bumper doesn't cause it to hang when reinstalled properly.. Not sure what type of work you do on your car but a lot of us have removed the front bumper and reinstalled it with no problems. Hell it takes me about 15 minutes to take it off...

For the front bumper there are 2 bolts on either side of the grille inserts, unscrew those. You might want to pb-blast them or use some sort of loosening lubricant cause mines were on pretty tight. Next take off the 3-4 plastic pop-screws on either side of the car in the wheel well. Disconnect all the under-carriage plastics, and chances are you'll break a couple of those plastic pop-mounts cause they suck. Now if you look at your front lip there are two plastic sections coming off that hold it to the front frame with big plastic mounts, undo those. Now go to the top of the car, pop the hood if it isn't already and on the front bumper remove the plastic pop-tabs that hold it to the frame that runs parallel to the radiator.

Now to disconnect the fog-lights, take a look under the front bumper in the middle somewhere and there should be a wire going to the front with a little harness on it. Disconnect it, that is your fog light harness.

Now slowly wiggle from either side of the car and push the bumper forward. If it doesn't give, it might help to grab it from the front portion of the bumper in the middle of it (not the top, its weakest at that point) but right about where your liscense plate mount would be on the front bumper. Give it a little tug, but don't pull it completely off, check for any plastic tabs in case there are a couple left, our bumpers flex a bit so it may seem like you're gonna break it but its pretty tough for the most part.

I Hope I covered everything, I'm sure there's a how-to on it, but when you're reinstalling it just make sure to get new plastic tabs if you broke any, they're cheap from the dealer or autozone carries bulk packages of 10 or so. Don't forget to re-attach the fog light harness.

lol that had nothing to do with me, guy. i was very specific about what i meant. did it not make sense to you? if a guy is dumb enough to not know what a part is called, they shouldnt touch it. because logically, it means they're dumb enough to be one of those guys that end up not installing it right. idiot.

maybe in the future, double check what you read so you understand it. dont comment on it til you do.

Ooo gettin' all defensive eh? Removing a front bumper isn't that tough of a job, anyone can do it. In fact my buddy's mom has removed the front bumper off her civic. And in Australia the front bumper might be considered a front bar, ever think of that?

Before you assume that someone can't do a job because he/she can't figure out what its called why don't you look back to the days where you started off with cars. Everyone has to start somewhere, a front bumper has enough of a challenge to teach someone the mechanics of how body panels are mounted and the process in which to remove/install one isn't that hard. Its just overcoming the initial fear of gettin' your hands dirty.

Cheers to bruce988jl.

OK, it's a 'front bumper bar'.

It's slang(ish) term I guess. It's just like people over here calling Alloy wheels,"Mags"; even though they are not made out of Magnesium.

This is off topic, but I think with the thread starter being from Australia, adm might not stand for Adam.

hm.. i totally missed that.

Also Adm, a thing about the front bumper, make sure to throw as many of those plastic push pin things back in, I lost a bunch due to them snapping or falling apart when i took off my front bumper and i was under the car today and everything is still in place but loose. I managed to find a couple more in a spare parts stash i had that tightened it all up. Just something to keep in mind.

Yeah, I am A(ustralian) Domestic Model Lancer.

The name is derived from the fact that the VR-X Lancer in Australia is a mish-mash of Ralliarts from around the globe. AFAIK, only the Americas and Australia/NZ got the 4G69 engine put into the Lancer.
