test or straight pipe?

my friend put up his 05 RA for sale recently and was trying to part out a few things and i was going to trade him my stock cat for his RRM test pipe and we came to realize that the 05-06 is a bolt on cat and the 04's is weld on...aside from buying a piece of piping and welding it in place of the stock cat, what are some other solutions? i was thinking maybe buying a piece of pipe and having flanges put on t the pipe, exhaust, and cat that way when i need to go for inspection i can just bolt the cat back on and vise versa...any thoughts?

That's what I was thinking. Having some flanges welded on the the rest of the piping.
