Got any tips for selling an 05 ralliart?
Recently i started telecommuting, which means i don't care about MPG as much. Also, doing a lot of DIY stuff around the house leaves something to be desired with the limited amount of cargo room in the ralliart. So, i found the car i want to buy - 07 FJ Cruiser. Quite a bit different, but really nice.
So my dilema is this, KBB trade in on my lancer with 44k is $8600 but dealer is only offering $7500. Feeling like this is a terible deal, i am trying to sell my lancer on my own. Got it on craigslist and cars.com. No real interest yet.....
My questions are to those of you who might have previously sold a ralliart:
What did you do to help educate possible buyers about how the ralliart is a totally different car from the ES or oz rally?
Do you think it should be priced in line with the regular lancers even though its a much better vehicle?
Any advice would be much appreciated....
Currently, i'm asking $9900 as a starting point which is just below KBB fair condition private party cost. Probably will drop that soon.....
My ad is http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?paId=295821992 - any tips on wording would be awesome.
Also, I have two set of wheels and tires - summer/winter - summer has the original alloys, i feel like this might be a drawback as most people are just interested in regular all season wheels - but i see it as better traction all year with a built in tire rotation reminder
Another thing is that i am now realizing what a hinderence it can be to sell a manual. This car was made for manual transmission, but i just don't think people get it...

Clean the car inside and out. There is nothing worse going to test drive a used car from a private party only to see the interior, exterior and engine bay havent been cleaned in months. It took me about 8 hours of cleaning to get my Ralliart up to the level I wanted.
cleaned and ready to go - what kills me is that i am not getting any emails/phone calls - so no one even has taken that first step
obviously its a tough market for all car sales, bu ti am just trying to do whatever i can.
dropped the price to $9750, we'll see if that helps....

Pictures pictures pictures.
Nothing bugged me more before I bought my RA than checking out cars only to see 1 or 2 crappy pictures. You should have pictures of every inch of the car, Exterior all around, interior front and back, engine bay, trunk, wheels, detail shots of anything special you put on the car.
I finally settled on my 04 RA (manual) and bought it for $8,000, asking price was $8,500. It only had 40k miles on it too. It was an incredible deal for me but I understand why you have your price set slightly higher. The guy I bought it from included lots of pictures though.

Yeah, there's no such thing as too many pictures. However, I think KBB is over-estimating the value of the car. The car has a downright crappy resale value.
Try finding an import enthusiast website for your area and advertise the car on the forums. Otherwise, craigslist, autotrader, cars.com, local classifieds, etc

Put your stock wheels back for pictures and take post more than just one. Its getting harder to sell cars now and hopefully when I put mine up, it wont be too much of a challenge
