Thumbs up Thumbs up on Block Heater

So it's been getting really crappy out here in Edmonton lately so naturally I started 'plugging in' my car.
2 hours of block heating and after a minute of idling the temp gauge already moves. I didnt expect it to work that well.
Later today I'm gonna go pop the hood and feel the engine a little, see if i can feel warmth anywhere haha. <geek>

I never plug my car in even when its -40 here in winnipeg. I just use mobile 1 synthetic so I dont have to worry about the oil gettin thick. I also have a remote starter so i let it warm up for a couple mins before I drive.

Nor would I. Metal can be pretty brittle at those temps.

Not even sure my mini-battery would be able to start the car if it were that cold, though.

well when its -40 and you have to go to work, you dont really have much choice. I still have the stock battery and i works fine, no problems starting at all.

Next week the low at night here is going to be around -35. Luckily this year my neighbour is gone all winter and I can use his garage. No more letting it warm up for 10 minutes before driving it!
