Had a weird issue today.

I was coming home from picking up my son today my car did something weird.
I was just cruising along at about 50 mph and the gas pedal stopped working.
The car didn't shut off. It just kind of coasted into the gas station. It idled fine but the gas pedal wouldn't do anything.
I popped the hood an yanked on the throttle cable an i could pull it a full inch before the engine responded. I shut off the car and cranked it back up a min later and it acted fine. Weird.....

Any thoughts?

I would check your signal and values of the APP and TPS. See if they are seeing the same value when you depress the pedal and at a rest position. Possibly the APP isn't sending a good signal to the TPS telling it to open. I think there is a TSB on the APP.

Yeah, chances are your accel. pedal position sensor is on its way out. If that's the culprit, and it's happened once, it will happen again. There's usually a CEL that eventually goes with it, though, but not sure it pops up in every case.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

SSP,Bi-
Is the APPS the same as the pedal position sensor? (sorry not familiar with the abbreviations)
About where is it located? expensive?

Otter-
Last time i had Dan pull and clear my codes the only ones i had was the crankshaft sensor code and another code that was normal. My CEL always stays on because of the turbo.

Performance wise the car has been running just a little rich and another minor issue that could or could not be related is that sometimes the car will hesitate for just a split second while cruising. The instances of this happening are very sporadic. Last summer it did it every once in a while and it seemed to go away but lately it has come back just a little.

This also sounds a lot like my MAF issue.
Maybe not related but the symptoms are similar to my issue with the dirty MAF.

I think otter has it nailed.
The problem does not happen at all while in cruise control.
