Underdrive Pulley Problem

Had a couple people mention to me recently that the underdrive pulley mod is not something worth doing, due to the smaller pulley not being able to provide enough charge for the battery? Has anyone heard or experienced any problem with this?

I have had my UDP for a few years now and havent had on problem with it, the only problem is that when you are at idle the headlights dimmed a bit but that was it. I now have new headlights of ebay and i dont get that effect. Plus i have a volt meter in my car and even at idle the altinater is still putting out enough to run the car. Look up UDP or undriven pulley and there are plenty of threads on this in here.

I've had mine on for 70,000 miles with the same battery. No electrical problems.

I've had mine for about a year now. In the winter sometimes it would be about -35 or -40 Celsius and the car would still start without being plugged in. So I really don't think it does anything to the battery.

The only time the alternator output is any different than it would be with the stock pulley is at idle, and even then, it's still above 12v.

I had one of the first ones made, but I don't put that many miles on I think I've had it going for about 25k now. I'm still on the factory battery from 2004 and its hanging in there. I'll replace soon, as this past winter I started noticing some headlight dimming during idle and some hesitation when starting the car on cold days. But considering the batter is 5+ years old now, thats chalked up as normal wear and in no way the fault of the pulley.

The only thing I'd worry about is if I were running an obnoxious audio setup that draws a lot of juice. But if the pulley stops those idiots from annoying everyone in a 4-block radius due to battery failure, than I still highly endorse the usage of this product!

I've got a kickin interior system, and thats the way i like it, on the inside. i built my subs in facing forward, seperate from the trunk, so unless your standing beside the car your not hearing much for sound or rattle. sounds better, draws less juice, i think the udp will be okay..

The pulley will only affect the Battery Charge at Idle. I have had it for over 10K ( I know not that long) but I have noticed some dimming of the Headlights but I have not had any problems with it at all.

was thinking last night, does it affect your revs? smaller ratio means its spinning faster, so does that affect the entire system leaving my car with higher revs?
