Hi guys, new to the forum. Just bought an '06 Lancer Ralliart today and need some advice from other owners the best way to maintain the vehicle. The car didn't come with a user manual, and I need to know what is the best fluids to use for:
Brakes
Power Steering
Oil (Switch to synthetic or not?)
Coolant etc.

I have a bad leak in my power steering hose that is leaking onto the exhaust manifold and causing smoke. I don't want the thing to catch fire. Is this part special for the lancer or can I pick it up at any parts store? The place where I bought it is fixing it for free for me, but I want to make sure they are using the proper parts and fluids as this is a performance machine.

Also one more thing, there's a loud hum sound (Kind of like a fart can) coming from the left side of the vehicle. It sounds like it comes from the exhaust but I'm sure it's coming from the engine area. The sound increase it's pitch as I speed up. Is this related to the power steering? It goes away as I turn left, but not right.

Sorry for the large requests, I'm not too great with cars, but I want to learn for myself so I can get the most out of my vehicle. It would be appreciate if you could point me in the right direction!

Well Advance Auto if you have one around you has just started to be able to get ahold of parts like that but the RA is really not different then other cars on basic mait stuff, 5w30 oil, DOT3 or DOT 4 for brake and clutch fluids and just normal Green Coolant, I would switch to synthetic oil Mobil 1 or better. hope that helps.

If the sound could be from the powersteering pump, but due make sure they tend to make a " hum" sound when you tunr left or right as you make pressure in the system hopfully your rack and pinion arnt going.
