let me know if you agree that the belt that comes with the pulley, once installed, could be a few mm's shorter...

The belt has to be shorter since the new pulley is smaller. I installed this mod over the weekend. Fantastic mod. Like many others have said best bang for your buck mod on the Ralliart.

let me clarify... the belt that comes with the pulley, i think, could be a couple of mm's shorter; do you concur? (look at the auto tensioner...)

the belt that came with my setup works fine. the tensioner should take care of any additional slack

Hey guys, I have a couple questions. I have a friend that just turbo'd his lancer ralliart. It is the older body style, I believe the 05 model. Question is, he just got it turbo'd with the RMS kit I believe. His downpipe is 2.5 all the way back. Can he fit a three inch turbo back exhaust on his car? Or is it even needed. Also, with this turbo kit he has, I have never seen a bov set up like this. It is set up to recirculate, but the bov I have never seen like this. I can set him up with a new set up, but will he need a retune. I know all about the Evo's considering I own one, but not to sure on the ralliarts. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can help him learn about it.

who is RMS? i havent heard of anyone making a turbo kit besides RRM unless thats who you meant. I dont believe that you need a 3in piping after the turbo if he's running 7-8 psi (assuming its the rrm kit) cause if you do too big without upping the boost i dont think it'll work right without a retune. cant help you on the bov sorry

From your description this sure does sound a lot like RRM's kit. If so, it would be impossible to get a turbo back exhaust because RRM's dump pipe extends past where the cat should be, meaning you'd have to get a catback exhaust to suffice. I don't recommend going any bigger than 2.25 if the set up of the kit is the base 7-8psi. If you want more power or plan on having the boost turned up then yeah, a 2.5 would be good. A 3 inch would only be necessary if you are making well over 300whp, which isn't very smart in a FWD car as it is. As for the BOV, in the future I'd recommend upgrading to a metal based recirculating BOV because I'm sure the plastic one will eventually wear out due to heat decay.

If you don't mean RRM and you really mean RMS, please post a link.

Yeah I apologize fellas, the turbo kit is RRM 16g turbo with a Tial external wastegate. Yeah the BOV he has is made by Bosch, which I have never heard. I recommended to him the Evo IX DV which is metal and will hold more then enough boost then he will be running. He already has 2.5 inch exhaust piping and he is tuned with all his mods. He is going to be adding more modifications to the car and will be tuned after a few parts. He wants to run an a VTA set up. I just want to know if it will mess up his current tune if he does. He could do a twin vent BOV and should be fine.

Yeah, the plastic one is made by BOSCH. It's been used on many older Porsche and Audi turbos. If he's already got a 2.5 inch exhaust I'd suggest keeping it that way, depends on his goals though. As for the VTA type BOV, I'm not going to recommend it. I asked RRM if I could switch my BOV for a VTA one like the HKS BOV, but they told me it's better to run a recirculating one with their kit, which is why it came with one. A VTA BOV will cause his car to run richer than it already is (assuming he's running the base piggyback map supplied with the kit). If you're gonna get a VTA type then maybe the car MIGHT have to get the car retuned. Tell him to call RRM or contact ROCK just to make sure. I'd recommend just going with Forge Motorsports recirculating BOV.

Yeah I will have him call them. I recommended a twin vent. Then I contacted my tuner who has tuned thousands of evos, and even lancers. As long as he does a twin vent he will be good. It will make the car run slightly rich when he blows off. But it will not mess up his tune. He said he has alot of plans, and high horsepower goals. So I am trying to help get him there. He is new to the turbo world, so he has alot of good questions about it all. I for one am no rookie with turbo's or cars period. Just not to sure on the turbo kit he has and how the tune was done. But yeah I will just have him call them. Thanks man.
