RRM Timing Box

Hey guys i was looking at the RRM Timing box. I tried to do a little research on this forum and even on Google to find some info out about what a timing box does and what the side effects are ect. I couldn't really find anything useful. Their was a few thread on how to install the timing box. It seems extremely easy. I just wanted to know if anyone that has the timing box or knows anything about the timing box can give there 2 cents on this. Is their a noticeable increase? will it destroy my engine? is it really worth it? Thanks guys.

BTW i am running a 2004 ralliart with:
-rrm axel back exhust
-aem cold air intake
-rrm under drive pulley
-had the rrm piggy back but disconnected it due to cel issues.

It actually works on the ignition timing. There is an optimal time at which to do the spark in each cylinder, based on engine velocity (RPM) and load. Mitsubishi set the spark to ignite at a specific time during one combustion cycle. This setting is usually really conservative. If you advance timing, you pull more power out, but chances of detonation are higher. You can retard timing to reduce detonation chance, but will also reduce power.

The box actually pushes this timing a bit further than stock. But I know what you are thinking! What about getting more detonation risks? RRM thought about that, and while still staying in the safe zone, pulled a couple more hp's. It's an easy way to get more oomph while not costing to much.

Wanna read about it??
