Worth noting, if you buy wheels + tires from Tire Rack, I think they'll mount/balance them for free before shipping them to you.

 

I hear you on that ha I have 205/55/16 michelin x-ice on my wheel coated stockers (like a mag grey). With that color and snow tires it looks pretty bad ***

 

i was thinking about doing the summer tire and then having a winter tire set up but it doesnt snow so much here in NM. i have some good all season tires on now and if they do get messed up after the winter thats just more reason to buy some newer sticky ones, and all year around to save for them too

so i've been pricing tires and canadian says they on anything except 205/50/16's on my car. This is just policy right....there's no issue with putting other sized tires on if they end up matching close like the 105/60/15? I just wanted to confirm since i don't know much about stuff lol

 

195/60/15 since I bought the car and never have any issued!!!

 

I am running 205/55 16 on TEIN STech springs, I am having rubbing issues.

 

I have 205 50 16 on my 05 RA with tein s techs. They rub only lock to lock for me

 

The shop had the wrong bolt pattern for the steelies so i just ended up getting stock size winters on my stock rims to avoid the hassle of waiting on new steelies. the car doesn't handle as nicely anymore

I think i'm just gonna go with some new rims and tires in the spring and keep these rim/tire set for the winters. I was thinking of RRM's 17" silver rims and they're pretty cheap too. I'm just not sure how 17's would look on the car.

 

just ask 3 out of 5 people in this forum..most people run 17's on when they get wheels on here..some even get 18's..
i personally am still on stockers tho..
(just waiting to be able to spend some $ on wheels and tires to get the wheels i want...and a new set of tires..)

last winter was the 1st time winter i had the car and i didnt run snow tires at all...i had the worn out(3-4/32 left) set of kuhmo ectsa asx the car came w/ when i bought it...this time around im on 4 month old firestone firehawks..so hopefully ill have better traction...

 

Your rubbing on the stock size ? That's a bit odd even with the s techs .

 

Eh, not really. On stock wheels with the s-techs my tires rub on lock as well.

 

my front has been lowered by the previous owner and a couple times when i've been reversing with the wheel turned all the way i hear an "urch" type sound. is this it rubbing?

 

Kinda hard to say usually doesn't really sound 'URCH' ing ... when it rubs.

 

My buddy has an '03 GTI and he only has winter tires on his front wheels and all seasons on the rear. Does anyone else do this or know anyone who does this?

 

I am doing this at the moment, as I was too lazy and cold to put the rear ones on at the same time. But after "drifting" through a snow filled corner this weekend, I will be putting them on as soon as I can.
