oem vs aftermarket

i went to a local Mechanic becuase both my rear lower control arms need replacing along with the sway bar links , so the car was there for half a day. the mechanic call me back saying that the aftermarket control arms dont fit that i need oem one . at a highter cost . so basicly im back to square one because the labor was about the same at the local mechanic as the dealer .

I take it your brought in the aftermarket parts? I'd double check those aftermarket part #'s to insure that you have the correct part for your car first. If they are correct, I'd go to the manufacturer of said parts and find out if there are any fitment issues. I'd lay the responsibility of the manufacturer of those parts.

If you didn't bring the parts in and the shop is suppling those parts, I'd tell him to get back to work and get your car working at the agreed cost no matter if he has to get OEM parts or not.

not all mechanics are trustworthy. he might just not be able to figure out how to get the aftermarket parts on. Honestly, you could probably do this work yourself at home and save money.

you should've just taken it to the dealer, yeah it may cost a lil more but at least you know it gets done right and not get the run around
