Hey all. I am a Mitsubishi owner. Just havnet got myself a lancer yet. Been wanting for awhile now. Own a 96 eclipse. By I am curious abooit which to get oz rally or a RA.... Ummm goods for both. Just looking for more details why all you guys pick an RA. Thanks all
oz rally has a 2.0 4g94 motor that is found in the es model. (125 PS; 123 bhp) at 5,500 rpm with 176 N·m (130 ft·lbf) of torque at 4,250 rpm.
RA ha a 2.4 4g69 motor which is found mainly in the RA, eclipse, and outlander. 162 hp (119 kW) at 5750 rpm (160 in the Sportback Wagon) with 162 ft·lbf (219 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm.
both share similar body with the aero kit ect.. however the suspension for the RA is a lot sportier than the OZ. The wheels on the oz are lugs are 4 bolt deisgn compared to RA 5 bolt. *I think the suspension on the oz is the same as the es*
Honestly both has their benefit and downfall. For the RA it is a fun little car, parts are either OEM or you need to so some research from other cars such as DSM or get custom things done. For OZ parts are plentiful many people have used parts, engine is common it it much easier to do thing to it such as finding turbo kits, and engine mods.
I would say RA because I think right now price for both are around the same + u get a bit more power.

Just know if you are planning to modify it we have very little options. RRM, RPW for the majority of parts. And hackish is the only one as of now who can Reflash our ECU. otherwise all you can use is the piggyback from RRM or RPW. Just so you know though I LOVE MY RA.

It's a bias view but RALLIART !!!! The oz has it's perks but then money comes into play. I am a diehard ralliart guy, I won't leave her til she is beyond totaled or stolen. I still tell people when they ask if it's an evo ,"no it's not an evo but I have a bigger motor"
We are rare, few,and far between but unique so if you find it for you welcome to the OG ralliart side.

i also own a 2003 lancer ES, and the suspension is sloppy and unpredictable, the OZ looks like an RA at a distance, but drivetrain is identical to the base model and has significantly less power than the RA and handles like a bicycle with a flat tire...The OZ i'm pretty sure even has rear drum brakes like the ES...
The more i mod my RA, the more the wife hates the ES...i'll probably migrate the rear sway bar to the ES and get myself a nice thick one...and i'll buy her some springs, and front strut bar...
so i guess you can fix the handling downfalls for relatively cheap, but the motor is still a 2.0L SOHC non-MIVEC...
OZ 1/4 mile 17s or worse
RA 1/4 mile about 15s and change

The OZ is the same car as the ES, except with a body kit. After market parts for the OZ are about as easy to find as for your eclipse (nice car
) but parts for the RA are few and far between. There's also, a small, but great community here for the RA.

As everyone else said, the parts are cheaper and more easily found for the OZ, but you have a base platform of a lot less than a Ralliart. When I test drove an OZ, it just felt like something my grandma would get to cruise around town to get groceries and she would be perfectly content, but for a more agressive driver, the OZ didn't cut it. So.. if you want something with more power and better handling without the price of an Evo, the Ralliart is my choice.
okay thanks everyone. this has been a great help. RA it is for me. The RA took my heart and is going to take my cash :P so glad to join you all. now time to find one that has not been raped and get to work. woo
This car is fun to drive bone stock...the only other cars i've driven that are comparible are the Sentra SER spec-v and Impreza 2.5RS...the impreza corners better obviously...and the sentra has 6 gears...but the lancer looks better, and i find it comfier, as i drove both the sentra and the impreza before i even owned my RA...
