I doubt cheap oil would cause your car to overheat, unless you never change it.

Are you still running water? If so, switch to the proper coolant and try again. Also check your water pump

Hope that helps
My HVAC is fine. Gets ice cold. Heater is fine too it seems. Doesn't seem to get AS hot as it could but hella hot still.

And I'm running water and supercoolant. No antifreeze.

If you mean compression in the cylinders, its fine. Also, no bubbles in the water. No leaks whatsoever.

As for the header wrap and raising the hood?

I already raised the hood. but no wrap.

oh and my water pump is brand new.

Gah I can't seem to figure it out...

So apparently I'm running mostly 5w-20 and then a quart of 0w-20. And I realized when its really hot, at idle my oil pressure light flickers a tiny bit.

From my experience, thin oil will cause loss of pressure resulting in high engine temps. Could this be it!?!?

I've put a 1/2in spacer to raise the hood. First this thing is not safe. The hood has a little play where is locking, feels like it will pop up any minute. On the highway I can hear a little rattling. As for the results they are not good, in the city the IM temperature is higher by almost 20 degrees and on the highway it's the same as before. Now the hood gets really hot to the point I can't touch it. When I got home and opened the hood I had to use a rag to put the metal rod that holds the hood, it was so hot. I'm going to take them off... I wouldn't recommend this mod, it's not safe and it doesn't cool anything off.

New finding! lol

The engine seems to be just as hot to the touch when its cold outside as it is when its hot outside. could this be the thermostat or a sensor?

You can not use the "touch" to estimate how hot is your engine. You have to get real numbers.
I've put a thermostat in my car that opens at 170 and by "touch" I see no difference. But with numbers, on the highway it only gets to 183-186 and 190 in the city with AC on. Sometimes if I coast a lot it gets down to 178.

I know my valve cover gets hot to the touch when I drive, even in below freezing temps.

hmm. so either i dont have a problem, or we both have a problem. hahaha

anyways, im using radiator flush in my cooling system right now and driving a bit. i actually gained quite a bit of power over the last two days so im thinking it was clogged a bit. I'll do a couple more flushes over the next week and let you guys know how it runs.

just below halfway like normal.

but it takes almost no time to warm up, and takes forever to cool down.

but im sure its running hotter than normal because it used to be i could put my hand on the valve cover and now i cant touch it when its at operating temp.

i've never been able to touch my valve cover for any extended period of time, i just figured these little motors are just a bit warm. the air blowing off the rad is like crazy hot, but i don't think that's abnormal.

I agree , I mean the valve cover is bound to get hot, there is oil inside that is touching the valve cover , which is easily over 200 F.

yeah my gauge hits normal operating temperature in like 1 minute of driving in the summer. winter she takes a good 3 minutes or so.
