clutch question

When I push in the clutch, it no longer feels smooth, but feels like something is catching, dragging, rubbing; and when releasing it feels like something is snagging.

Gears go in and out fine, shifting is fine, clutch is not slipping.

My finger is on the master cylinder being worn out. Seals going, something along those lines.

I'm having the dealership look at the car today to see what they find. If this was a game show you'd win a prize if u guess correctly. lol

Throw out bearing in our cars do suck. Must be a money scam from Mitsu :P. I'm with Cranswick here, it is pretty common (at least from what I have seen) for our TOBs to stick to the Input Shaft

This post is messing with my manual transmission swap sportback fantasy.

Are there aftermarket TOBs?

Sorry about that. Yes there are. I have a ACT one, which came with my clutch kit but I do believe you can buy them separately. Also, RRM has them for sale individually.

RRM TOB

ACT TOB (Less $$$)

well, naturally the dealership found nothing wrong with the clutch master cylinder, never mentioned the TOB, and they suggested I wait for the clutch to start slipping before I replace the clutch (??).
lol.

It does feel like an O-ring or some kind of seal is binding on the piston that pushes into the master cylinder when depressing the clutch pedal, but the bearing is a possibility.
Not gonna worry about it for now.

they probably don't want to pull the transmission, just to replace the TOB...it's almost got to fail completely before they'll replace it under warranty...it's kind of hard to inspect the TOB through the release fork boot.

I think I'm going to go to the stealership, and at least give the 10 year /100k powertrain warranty a try.(Concerning my tob problem) Although they will see alot of other things modified, the trans hasn't been touched...

often they will try to say if the engine is modified, or you have a trailer hitch etc, that the transmission has been "abused"....it's worth a try though, good luck...
