Clutch master cylinder failed, need help.

As title says. I'm on an aftermarket clutch of unknown type. Had the car for 60 000kms without problem then I get in my car and clutch feels much easier to go in, and clutch engagement point is much closer to the firewall. When I got home, I checked under the hood, followed the line to the cylinder and seen it covered in oil.

I understand this happens to evo X guys all the time, but they don't have the same CMC. I didn't look at it much, so I'm thinking it's either the hose that pierced and spills oil all over the cylinder or the cylinder which is cracked or seal leaking. Has this happened to any other RA's?

Also, I want to go to a nearby scrapyard to get the car back on the road as soon as possible. What other cars share our CMC? RA's are pretty non existent in scrapyards around here. From a base Lancer maybe?

It should be noted that it is a temporary solution, I'm ordering a evo 8/9 one soon.

Anyways, general CMC talk.

Yeah I'll try to get my hands on an OEM Evo unit, hopefully it's available here. Maybe someone has the PN?

Also, any tips while replacing the unit? Anything to look for when replacing it? Any other parts I should service/swap while there? Steel braided lines or something?

The Evo CMC is pretty straightforward (if you have small hands)....it's just in a really akward location in the engine bay. Take your time when bleeding it and you should be ok.

So the act comes into play again.... It's said that act did something with the pressure plate that causes more stress on the cmc. But fixed under warrantee 2x is nice.

Pressure plate. I don't think the ACT full faced organic disk offers any performance increase over the OEM disk. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they are the same.

The ACT pressure plate is a rebuilt OEM Exedy.

Well we all know exedy makes both the OEM plate and disk. I have the ACT with OEM stock plate at the moment. No issues.

I got the OEM plate because of known issues with broken CMC's seals. Many people running the ACT plates down here have had seal problems on the long run breaking one or two at least. ACT doesn't sell OEM spec clutch replacement for lancers but only performance organic disk contrary to Exedy which only sells OEM organic spec but no aftermarket one for the non-evo lancers.

Still waiting on my evo 8 CMC order. Can't wait to see if clutch will be easier to push in as mine seems to be ridiculously hard to push in.

I'm a bit late here, but the base lancer and the evo 8 CMC are the same part

There's a difference between the RA and evo CMC. Something about a seal IIRC
