Broken window

So the other day I lowered my window to get a breath of fresh air and it didn't want to go back up I could hear something turning inside but the window wouldn't move so I thought since its about to rain I'll just pull it up and stick a piece of cardboard to hold it do rain doesn't come inside... Well it wasn't that easy the window couldn't be pulled all the way up to seal so I had to go in.... After taking the door panel off I seen that there was only two of the three bolts holding the motor an when I would press up or down it would flex and move. After shinnin a light inside I seen that the cable that goes from the motor to the regulater is snapped dammit not a easy fix.. So I just cut a 2x4 and stuck it under to hold the window up.. I'm going to replace the whole assembly but have no idea how to do so if any body has done this before please comment and let me know what worked best for you? Window up or down? Service manual would be great too.. I have big hands so sticking my hands inside is kinda hard

Ah man... That sucks. This happened to me in my old Jeep. Had to order a new motor and everything. I honestly have no good insight as far as our RAs go. But in my jeep I stripped the door down and just had to figure it out. I'll check the service manual when I get home to see what I can find for you though. Maybe someone else has it more handy than I in the mean time.

buy a door from a wrecked car. i think the driver side and passenger door is the same as every other lancer of that generation. snag one and paint it, or you might get lucky and find one the same colour lol...

you need the manual? it should have a break down of the assembly, and probably a job guide to fix it...never looked. Another good thing to have is Mitsubishi ASA or CAPS. these cars are getting to the age that they will no longer be worth paying for service/labour, and only those who maintain the car themselves will have them, and the more people that wreck and abandon them, the more spare parts will be available. or entire cars will be dirt cheap...

Way easy swap I have spares too if you need. I did it only a little down. Better to replace inside of door (motor wires and such then slide your window in and attach to the mechanism. That's what we did. I've swapped out glass and removed all door mechanisms from parts car.

As kayou said it shouldnt be hard, I did it on my 2001 tiburon (heresy :P). In theory if there similar then the motor should be attached to the regulator, the big metal thing that wire spool and wire goes through, the window should also be connected here to the panel that is slid up when the wire is spooled in or spooled out.

Basically
1.take door panel apart
2.take window pane out (glass)
3.take out old regulator
4.take off motor from old regulator
5.put motor on new regulator
6.put in new regulator
7.put in old glass pane
8.put door back together.

Now depending on how your door comes apart it can go harder or easier and u may be able to take motor off before you pull the regulator out to make it easier but i havent done it on an ra before just my old tibby.
