Question Deep growl exhaust.

Hey I was wondering if anyone knows a good exhaust that has a nice deep tone to it and doesn't have any raspy/ricey sound to it.

The raspiness will be heightened with the more exhaust work you do. If you only have the muffler, it shouldn't be very raspy if at all. It will have some rasp to it if you have the headers/downpipe and a muffler, staying with the stock size piping will help avoid some rasp too. I have a 4-2-1 header/downpipe , magnaflow 22" resonator, with a magnaflow axleback muffler, I have some rasp in the high rpms still. Pick your battles.

I had the RRM magnaflow catback. Inside the car it sounded great, but I had a friend drive my car around and was horrified with how it sounded outside. Too raspy and loud for me, its not a particularly fast car and the noise just didn't make sense. That combined with the drone on the highway was too much and I went back to stock.

Hopefully the link works. Its not the greatest quality as it was shot with my iphone 4s but you get the idea of how it sounds. regular computer speakers don't quite capture the deepness but oh well.

The exhaust is just a ebay catback for a base lancer with the sohc 2.0. the bends are correct and the fit is almost perfect. the mid pipe is maybe an inch or two too long for a perfect fit but i didnt want to get rid of a resonator so i chopped the mid pipe so that the new exhaust starts from the resonator. I dont think id like a resonatorless exhaust The one downside to the exhaust is that it is 2.5" but i wanted a cheap exhaust with the smallest amount of work. So its not a cat back as much as its a resonator back.

I just put a Different Trend muffler on mine because I hated the bumblebee sound from the muffler the last guy put on it. I love it, nice and deep and throaty.

get a Borla muffler. i was going to do it, but I decided to stop modding my car in order to save for an evo. Buying one this May-June. I always wanted to hear the RA with a borla exhaust, you can't go wrong with that.
