I need some serious opinions...

Ok as some of yall know I have my car for sale. I have a potential buyer and the reason im selling is due to me wanting a more fuel effiecent car or atleast hits above 30mpgs on the highway. Also to have more cargo room for my growing family.I have the opportunity to buy a 2005 Passat wagon 5 speed with stage 2 apr tune with support mods. So I know its faster plus I know it still gets 30mpg or a little more. I know this because I have two friends with the same car with stage 2+.

So I need yalls opinion should I get it? Haha I know it comes down to me but I will miss my car...it has been taken care of and its my first car. Its my baby and still drives as smooth as the day I got her in 2006.

On the other hand I get what im looking for with the passat. It also has more options with tuning plus upgrades. Ah im so torn lol. Plus my wife has a 2013 jetta sportwagen tdi...I would drive hers but that's "her" car. Another thing is that she cant drive standard lol. Ok ok throw me some opinions guys. What would yall do?

Well for your situation maybe you should go for the VW I mean you already have one , and you have 2 friends with the same car. Not to sound like a dick but ask them, they would have a better opinion than most us.

Now that you say you have seen 5 Ralliarts, maybe it's a sign to keep the Ralliart? I'm never that great at changes , I'm one of those people that has no problem staying one lane from home to highway, if you get my analogy. so if this left you more confused than than not , I did my job and damn you for wanting to get rid of the Ralliart , lol JK

Lol you did your job! No but I hate change. When I had my e36 BMW breakdown, I needed a car. It was between the ralliatt or an rsx. I chose this because it was a 4 door....then it stole my heart.

Anyways you may get your wish of me keeping it because people keep flaking on me. Also one was a young kid....and I seen his previous car...I cant stand to see somine ruin this car lol. I may need to sell it out of state if I do. Reason is I may hurt someone if I see the car looking like crap. Lo l

Sell it to me!

LOL But seriously, id have a hard time getting rid of my RA. But if I needed more room and maybe something more economical then maybe it is time to move on. But if you get a new car are the payments and gas still going to be less than keeping the RA? Yea the RA may get a few less MPGs but Im sure a new car's payments would offset the few extra dollars at the pump... IDK... Something else to think about.

the RA is an amazing car. i think you should keep it! i'm trying my best to get my RA in-shape and i'm planning to keep it for a looooooong time. i want it to be my son's first car. that's how bad i wanna keep it LOL

in all fairness to the VW, i think it's no match to the enjoyability that the RA brings to the table.

True I could always do that. I think a part of wants something with more options but in the end I could always sale my broke down e36 bmw, my current rims and some other parts I have and do a quality custom turbo setup.

I love my RA I guess having it for almost 7 years now im wanting something new. Sorry VW when they are done right they are just as exciting if not more than the RA. I know because I have plenty of friends with them.
I was also looking at a 93 impreza wagon converted rhd with a jdm ej20 version 7 motor. Actually im still looking at it and its right in my price range if I get what im asking for on my car.

It's ok, they are getting old and so do we.

But I don't get it, you want something with better gas mileage but will buy an old AWD car?

Thing is, don't sell your car to get something that will give you more problems, like a 20 years old Subaru that has seen an incredible amount of modifications, or anything VW that isn't on warranty anymore.

I know for a fact that the paint on VW products of that era is awful. It will flake and peel at the 1st opportunity. That and every electrical system in the car will fail as soon as it can. Sunroof? It will obliterate it's own mechanism. The only thing I really liked about them is their sound systems.

Don't get me started on a 20 years old car with more moving parts than our Ra's. It is and will be an incredible money pit to keep on the road.

In the end, it comes down to what you REALLY want. If you want something more reliable, buy a Corolla. If you want something faster, buy anything but a stock Civic. You want better gas mileage, buy a Prius.

I would keep the RA if I were you. I wish I would have kept mine. ****, I would buy yours if I could get out of my current note. That said, if you are positive about getting rid of it, I would not buy a car that is modded. Especially if it's going to be a family car. I doubt you know the previous owner personally and everything that is truly done to that car and its driving history. The last thing you need is to be driving with your kids in the car and it breaks down on HWY 190, of all places.

I was joking about the Subaru lol, Its against everything I'm looking for in a car right now.. I'm not getting anything old guys.

As for the VW. I actually do know him. I've also helped him on some weekends doing some stuff to it. I'm not going to buy a completely new car because I can't afford two car notes. I understand also that VW paint is awful but its all about how you take care of a car. VW electrically are the MKIV models. The B5.5 passat I'm looking at is in great condition. Also it doesn't have a sunroof. Which I know alot of VW with sunroofs are notorious for problems.

Also keep in mind I can still have something that is still fast enough and have good gas mileage. My trip to work I avg. 21-22 mpgs. I can't help the route I take, its the only route I can take. Because the traffic to get onto base is horrible if I take 190. And yes 190 is horrible lol. I'm actually looking at a TDIs too. Also no I will not buy a Prius lol. Nothing against them but I just don't want one....

Overall I've done my research. I'm making sure the next car I do get is not going to blow up down the road. Honestly even with my car even though I've maintained it, things can still happen to it like any other car. Things we can't explain or prevent sometimes. So I understand where y'all are coming from on the used cars. I will keep that mind, but remember...the sale isn't set in stone..so I'll stick around on here until that happens. lol. Unless someone has a ralliart wagon we can trade...cough cough i keep the rims lol. and some of the parts. =D.

If it is her car get a new wife! Just joking.... for gas mileage you cant go wrong with a VW TDI, get stage 1 flash same mileage but much better power. Hack and I have done many in our area, the power you get is silly while keeping the mileage. My daily driver is 2003 Ford Expedition so don't complain about the RA being bad on gas...LOL. My wife has a B5 Audi A4 and I love that car, not as much as my RA as there is a wee bit of history with the FIRST RALLIART IN THE WORLD RUNNING A TURBO REFLASH!!!, sorry had to toss that out there.

I am also selling my RA this spring. Before i sell her she will be getting an LSD. Tonight I was out tuning did i mention i was testing the EDITOR to software? I punched it in 3rd gear, it started to break loose and i hit a bump the car leaped into the other lane, yes i made sure there was no on coming traffic prior, thank god I have leather seats easy to clean. EDITOR is not ready for market yet once it is we will get our official vendors status, the let the flashing begin.
