Track Prep/Maintenance Check-List

I've been putting this stuff off for far too long. I was in SC all winter, and when spring rolled around, I had so much going on back at home, and with the other car, I didn't have the time or the money to do anything with the car. Since i'm able to make it to the shootout this year, I made a list of things to do prior to heading south for the event. I thought it would be fun to see other people's "to-do" lists and how they are progressing.

here's my list:

1. Brake rotors (Centric Premium, ordered and received, not installed)
2. Brake pads (Hawk HPS, front and rear, on shelf, not installed)
3. Drive axles (Old axles still at A1 CVTech, awaiting new ones)
4. Tires (Dunlop ZII, ordered and received, not mounted)
5. Wheels (old chrome OEM mitsu Enkei wheels, 2/4 painted bronze, working on the others)
6. Brake fluid (ATE Super Blue, on shelf, waiting for brake parts install)
7. Transmission oil change (Redline MT-85, on order, pickup tomorrow)
8. Engine oil change (AMSOIL signature 5w-30, on shelf, awaiting axles (you need to removed the oil filter to take the right axle out))
9. Front camber kit (MOOG, on order pickup tomorrow)

Things that came up while working on "the list"

1. Ball joints (MOOG, installed)
2. Tie-rod ends (on order, pickup tomorrow)

Things I would still like to do:

1. Paint or clear coat CF hood (not sure what i'll do)
2. fix dents/scratches/rust (some spots are pretty bad,may need professional work)

I never had to take the oil filter off to pull the axle???? Inner tie rods make a big difference!

I'd check suspension bushings all around, sway bar mount bushings, check coolant for optimum cooling.. Not much of a check list...

LOL I got a several lists going between the RA and the Eclipse now. Here is my one for the shootout:

1) been wanting to order those mini RA mirrors that came on the Evo FQ400, the "shrek ear" mirors. IDK if Im going to get around to it.
2) been wanting to plastidip my roof, wing, licence shroud, and logos.
3) inspect brakes
4) paint rotors. Their zinc plating must have finally wore off cause they are starting to get surface rust.
5) rotate wheels
6) oil change
7) put spare back in the trunk just in case.
8) order gator back belt. current belt from autozone is squealing real bad.
9) replace stupid LED window washer nozzles with stock ones
10) Fill my window washer fluid
11) clean the car... (stays dirty #becauserallycar lol :P)
12) thought about putting spacers back on the wheels but Im probably not going to now.

Already Done:

1) replace rear sway bar end links
2) fix tie rods
3) replace strut plates
4) alignment

Other than car stuff I got another list going too for some stuff I'll need while up there:
Camping chairs, Popup canopy/tent thing to sit under, radios if anyone else rides up with me, cooler, basic tool kit, yada yada.

Dont get me started on the Eclipse though... Its got a list a mile long. I cleaned out my brothers trash in it yesterday and got two trashbags FULL of junk out of it. Still need to vacuum all the pebbles, dirt, crushed up leaves, and food out of it... its nasty.... :/

I just flushed my brake fluid yesterday with Dot 4. I have done multiple track days with the factory Dot3 and never had a problem. I just wish my stock pads would finally go. I am at 75k and still have about 50% life remaining.

I have a track day in two weeks. My oil is fresh, coolant is good, tires just rotated.

Ready to embarrass some V8 owners on a tight autocross course.

I've boiled regular parts store DOT 4 fluid...like pads smoking, fluid reservoir bubbling, lost all pressure, had to finish the lap with downshifting and hand brake.

Same here I boiled DOT 3 a while back on stock rotors and autozone replacement pads. Lost all pressure heading into a 90* corner and went off the path. Spooked me a bit so i limped my way home that night and ordered the DOT 4 fluid, powerstop slotted rotors, and pads. Not had a problem since.

And I like embarrassing V8 guys on tight courses too. Its the best feeling ever. lol especially when they talk all big up front. Had a friend who did that, and when I asked him when he wanted to go race again he replied with, "Let me go get the stig so my mustang will have a chance." Loved it! :P

Mine always say something like " Well you're like turbo, 300hp, and awd" I respond by saying "More like 160 hp and most of the time 1 wheel drive"

LOL yea he was notorious for that. "Its my transmission" "I need new spark plugs" "I havent drove the car in months" Yada yada yada. Between my friend with an Eclipse, another friend with a Mustang, and myself we have beaten all the excuses out of him now.

LMAO I get asked all the time if my car is an Evo. One kid asked me that and i said no (dont even bother with the RA explanation anymore), he then asked me if it was fast. To which I replied, "nope slow as hell." lol

Ordered a pile of goodies for the car.

- Amsoil ATF
- Royal Purple Synthetic Motor Oil and Filter
- Gatorback belt (current one is squealing)
- K&N Air Filter
- Washer Nozzles (to ditch the stupid LED ones)

Gunna pick up some paint for my rotors on the way home. And probably tomorrow I'll head down to Lexington to grab a few cans of plastidip for this weekend. Gotta start making some progress as I will be heading that way this time in 9 more days!
