Ok, so I have enough money for a performance upgrade from $250-$300. So the question is what do I get? I've narowed the field down to a few two thingswhich seem to give the most hp for the money.
1. injen CAI $250 (positives: easy install, no warenty issues \ Negatives: risk of hydrolock or runeing my mas,)
2. used Zex-82021 nitrous system ~$320 (Positives: 60hp shot, no risk of hydrolock, small risk of engine dammage compared to non computer controled systems / Negatives: harder install, more risk of engine damage, voids warrenty (i think), costs more to buy and use, used parts)
So that is what I can think of....if anyone thinks I missed a option that adds as much hp for around the same cost let me know. And of course let me know what you think is the better thing to use

Yea go with the cold air intake. I think the injen cold air intake comes with the water bypass system or somethin like that so you dont hydrolockb. Also it is kinda hard to hydrolock even in the rain. You really have to get your filter wet to hydrolock. Also if you go with the nitrous system you have to keep paying to refill your bottle and you wont get performance all the time only when you squeeze. If you get the cai intake you get performance all the time. I would go with the cai intake if i were you!!
I would start with the CAI. I have the RRM one and I like it. If you're worried about waterlock, you can buy an air bypass valve from AEM or a speed shop (just make sure its the right diameter). This mod will make the car run better for any future mods as well.
Injen CAI is the way to go. First of all, Nitrous will void your Mitsu warranty. Second, if you want to continuously using nitrous, you must buy the tanks (needs to refill). Third, it is easier to install, unlike the nitrous. Theres my opinion
I would go CAI, but you should know that a CAI will void your warranty. If you mess up your engine (e.g. hydrolock) and mitsu traces it back to the CAI you will be SOL. But I would go for that out of the 2 choices you have.

Used Nitrous sounds like a really dumb idea, and that will definitely void the warranty.
The CAI won't necessarily void the warranty right out of the box, however. As long as you don't drive thru puddles and flood areas, you should be ok. But there are times when that stuff just kinda happens, and if you had a CAI on at that moment, it's over!
A lot of it has to do with the dealership, if they're cool with it. A couple of my friends have plenty of warranty-voiding mods on their cars, and their dealers think it's great, as long as they don't do anything hazardous.
I say go with the CAI, man. And be safe!

I just ordered the Injen intake from overboost. Should be here by friday. Little advice, if you are going to buy it from overboost...sign up for the 100 day full access thing; it costs $4.95 and with the 5% discount it brings the intake cost down from $240 to $228....a $12 savings. Spend $5 save $7.
