i usually launch at 2700-3000 depending on humidity and road condidtions... (fresh pavement with low humidity and i can launch at 3000-3100 with nearly no spinning) as soon at my foot gets off the clutch, i floor it till about 6 grand or so... then if u shift perfectly into second you should be golden from there... 1st to 2nd gear is your best shift but also the easiest to screw up.... just mess around... also i notice u are new here... if ur RA is new, its not really at full power, once its broken in (after like 3000 miles/ first oil change) you will notice a slight power increase
thats my 2 cents anyways

No tips, but the Ralliart is geared so that you have to shift into 3rd at 55 mph. This is why its a little slower to 60 then other cars that are geared to shift into 3rd at 60 mph. The up side to this is in the 1/4 mile. A good example of this is the EVO vs. the STI. The EVO (5 speed) is faster to 60 by a couple tenths of a second but the STI (6 speed) is faster in the 1/4. my car now has 6000 miles i dont know if its me or wat when the weather is hot my car feels slower and dont shift smooth

I launch around 3600-3800, and I kinda feather the gas a bit so that the wheels grab relatively quickly but I get off the line in a hurry. I find if I launch lower then that I get alot of wheel hop or it just kinda bogs down on me.

PocoRA...I may sound dumb, but I really would like to know what you mean by "launch." I'm trying to learn as much as I can since I am the proverbial newbie. Thanks.

launch...hitting the gas...revving the engine...till it gets to 3600-3800 rpms..then he lets go of the clutch....car launches forward.

It's not just you. ALL cars, especially forced induction cars, get slower as outside air temps climb. Originally Posted by striderx88

The shifting may be another issue. Auto, or manual? If it's a manual, try a different fluid. If auto, I don't know what to tell you. I've never owned one.

lrh35: It depends on what magazine or source you get this from, although another downside is the STi has to go into 5th gear in the 1/4 mile so I have seen other reports that the EVO and the STi are about the same in the 1/4.
Not trying to tear apart this thread. I have heard from RRM that the Solid motor mounts they sell will drascticlly help wheel hop from launches. If I wasn't so lazy I would take the mounts out myself and modify them to be stiffer...just a though!

it's such a hassle to change the mounts without an engine hoist, I would really have to be motivated to tackle that job.

I get what your saying and I'm not saying the STI is better I just want to illistrate the point that gearing has a lot to do with 0-60 and it was Road and Track that I got the numbers from. Personaly I would love to have an EVO. Road and track also said that the EVO was a better track car and the STI was a better daily driver.Originally Posted by Joe's_EVO8

4 seconds sounds way slow considering u dont even have to shift until right after 30mph or so. I've never timed mine...might have to try it. Although a stopwatch run by a buddy in the car isnt the most accurate way to tell...
