Hesitation in 1st???

Lately, sometimes when I pull away from a stop in 1st gear slowly (revs b/w 1k and 2k) the car hesitates and the motor feels like its going to stall. If I 'm more agressive and keep the revs over 2 it doesn't do it. This is new and has never happened before - now it does it more and more often. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas what it might be? I was thinking maybe the CAI was restricting airflow at low RPM but that doesn't make too much sense. It feels like a fuel starvation problem so I'm worried the fuel pump might be on its way out - I don't know.
BTW - I've been driving stick my whole life (14 years driving) so its not my driving technique etc. This is a new problem on my car - 4200 miles so far. It has happened w/ many tanks of gas - all from reputable name brand stations - so that's not it either.

Put your airbox back on (or leave the CAI if your dealership is cool w/it) and take it in as a warrenty fix

My dealer's cool. I just don't have time right now to bring it in so I'm curious what it is. Also, I want to be sure I don't eff something up by driving it too much. You're right though - I take advantage of my warranty! I'll see if I can bring it in on Saturday or something.

I've had the same problem for a while. It started about that same time for me. Generally, it only occurs when the car is cold. I read on another post that it was a quick fix at the dealer. I think describing the problem will be the hardest part. I'm like you...I just need the time to take it in. I have 9 years manual driving experience so I know it's the car and not me.

I have CAI and 12K. My car does the same thing from 1000 to 2000rpms. Its like a bogging condition. Another thing I'm getting is a lot of "ratteling" in the exhaust system. The stainless steel flex pipe mesh is always making noise and sounds like a 10 year-old car. I might put a clamp around the flexpipe to see if it stops.

Anyone have the same..?

Thunder, has your car been doing it a while? It can be pretty violent when it bogs sometime w/ this condition. Could it be possible if you've been having this problem for a while it has loosened up the exhaust/flex pipe? I'm bringing mine in as soon as I can so other problems don't start comming up.

Question for some of the more technical guys: Since I don't own one (YET!) does the RA have a MAP sensor or a MAS sensor? If all it has is a MAP sensor, it could be that the ecu needs to "re-learn" it's curves with the CAI in place - this happens on my car. Once I reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes, the bogging problem goes away. If it does indeed have a MAS sensor, (which I think it does) this might not solve the problem. It's still worth a shot though I think.

It has a MAS sensor.

If he just put on the CAI, the ECU might need some time to relearn. However, he said it's been happening for some time, at least several tanks of gas.

I'm kinda curious to see what his dealer says.
