Mitsubishi back on it's feet...
-
Well, the latest financial news are good at Mitsubishi. As expected, sales are still down for the first quarter, but losses have also been cut down drastically due to the cost cutting measures included in the revitalization plan. Overall sales are down in North-America, but mainly due to Mitsubishi leaving the fleet sales market. In other parts of the world, sales are still a bit down in Asia but got a real boost in Europe, maily due to the intoprduction of the new Colt (including the RalliArt turbo version, which is doing very well). The company also signed agreements with two main companys to supply vehicules on OEM basis. In the asian market, Mitsubishi will provide Nissan with minicars, a type of vehicules that is very popular in that part of the world. In Europe, major player PSA (Peugeot) will for it's part be supplied with a new SUV model. Most of the projected financial figures were more than achieved in the first quarter and the forecast for the year has been maintained... even if it now looks like it might be surpassed. New models should be introduced during the year which you help end of year sales. In the US, note the arrival of the Raider pick-up truck (in october). In september, Japan reveices the wagon version of the Evolution while Australia gets the 380 sedan. This is in essence what the latest financial news are (and mean), but for more info, you can go ahead and read this press release from MMC: http://media.mitsubishi-motors.com/p...etail1312.html - |
I've been noticing the slight upswing too. My mitsu salesman said that they are currently at 200% production with the new eclipse and still have a huge waiting list. That sounds like good news to me.

Way to go :mitsu: :headbang:

I just saw Test Drive on Speed... Tommy Kendal (4 times trans-am champ. BTW) reviewed the Eclipse and presented it as the best FWD car he's driven so far. He also got it to a tuner shop to change the intake and exhaust setup... a thing that as never been done before on that show. I just wish Mitsubishi had decided to bring the Colt to this side of the pond though... in the long run, it's gonna hurt them not to have a small car in their lineup. And I love the RalliArt package they put on the Colt! - |

I love my Sportback but I really doubt the the Evo Wagon is going to come to the U.S. after they discontinued the Sportback so fast. Best bet would be to get a Ralliart Sportback and add a turbo unless you know a good importer. The 'good' news is you still might be able to find a new Sportback on some dealers lot a get a great deal on it.
-Joe P.S. It's great to see Mistu. working it's way out of it's money trouble. (see I'm partly on topic LOL) |
That's good to hear. :mitsu:

I think a Evo wagon would be bad-ass. Just hope it doesn't look like the Ralliart wagon does (like a Volvo)

That's good.
I would hate to buy 2 Mitsubishi vehicles and then have them drop out of the auto business. But you know, I am lucky like that! |

Hmmmmm... I'd hate to get you all depressed, but the Lancer chassis as always been shared through to the EVO, and the Sportback is the only wagon I know of. So there's a big chance that it's the same chassis, EVO style... But hey, you never know, it might be an all new body. Ther chances are just not that great. I like the Sportback though... I was even interested in buying one before I learned it was only available with an A/T. - |

That's really good news! {thumbup} Also good to see them expanding the market.

Yeah, that OEM deal with Peugeot really insured a bright future for the company's European factory (I think they're in Spain, not sure though). Yes, seriously those are really good news. The next really big thing I expect from these guys is to announce that they came out of the red and finally turned a profit... but that's not before at least a year if all went miraculously well. Even the big car manufacturers are in the red nowadays and are fighting for their very survival in the long run. Have you guys heard about a company called General Motors? These guys are deep in the sh*t right now... and the other 2 domestic giants don't really have cause for throwing a party either. In that situation, for MMC results to be improving demonstrates that these guys are doing something right... ;) - |
