maybe I'm a snob but are people really this dumb?
 

So my friend graduated this past friday. I'm sitting in the parking lot waiting for the rest of my friends to show up reading when I get a knock on my window. I roll it down and this GI asks me "MR or Evo VIII?"


i chuckled and said "man, i wish, its not even an evo. I'm a poor college student"

Also at work numerous rumors are going around about me having "side jobs" because i can afford an Evo.

then you get the dumb rednecks around here thinking i have an ES that i modded out. i mean you have the ones that give me respect thinking i did all this work but you also have the other ones that are in this dillusional world that im ricing out my car.

so are people dumb or are my eyes trained/im a snob?

It happens to me too , people kinda see my car as an evo heheh .... there is a BIG difference...

Just tell them that the engine is bigger than an Evo....and watch their eyes get big. That's my favorite.

Really, most people couldn't tell you a Lancer from a Galant, or a Civic from an Accord. Much less what kind of Lancer we have. Only real enthusiasts like ourselves know the differences.
Most people (Lord knows why) couldn't care less. Within 5 seconds, you should know whether the person asking you about your car is an enthusiast or a poser.

this happened to me once at a mechanic shop. imagine that.

i don't get it though. don't our cars look MUCH different than Evos? different as in, ENTIRELY different? i always thought so...

Different as in ALL fenders FRONT REAR BUMPERS , WHEELS , REAR DOORS , HOOD , ENGINE well a lot more stuff....

when i got my oil changed at valvoline almost a year ago,
the guy doing my change was showing me two different oils to use,
i usually would go with M1S (now i use RP)
but when i said the M1S, he was like,
"yeah, only the best for the evo!"

im like...
"uhhh, check the rating on that... this is a 2.4, ralliart, not an evo."

even trained eyes... *sigh*
sometimes can be deluded.

lol, if i had a dime every time someone said "yo dude is that an evo?" i could easily afford to buy one by now

haha I was at the mall with some friends and this guy in a S2K pull up and hes like, " Is that an evo? Turbo, awd?" I reply back, No its a Ralliart cant afford insurance. His passenger replies back, "I hear ya man" So at least I felt a little love from the Passenger. But as he's driving away he says, " Ya bought the wrong one." Once I get to the entrance im laughing because of the rain and all I thought about was, Poor s2K. I dont think he knew it was going to rain when he put his top down haha

People are just an aware and confused. I mean, with how popular and widely notice the Evo is out here, you would think I wouldnt get a second look at my car or constantly ask what BOV do I have, grrrrr.

i went to a mitsubishi dealer in my old ralliart when the evo 9 first started coming out.a sale guy came out and said"hey nice evo. what have you done to it?"

when i first bought my RA everyone(idiots) thought i had an evo b/c they saw the tailights, then when i tell ppl its a ralliart they seem to always make the mistake of calling it an oz rally. no offense to the oz guys but ppl really are that stupid:shoot:

when i took my car to allign not long ago there where two guys working on it. one was an "enthusiast" like E2L said and the other was an old guy...old guy asks

old guy: is it evo...what year so i can put it on the computer
other guy: its not an evo....just put lancer wagon

lol....this thread is funny, I get the uninformed guys all of the time...I have actually considered puting the ES symbol on my ra just to mess with people ..lol...

Don't put parts that make it look like an Evo :P

if they see the big goofy wing they assume its an evo... end of story...

I put a evo wing on my friends silverado and got the same responce =-p
