Motor Trend Ralliart comparison test
I got my January Motor Trend today and they have a comparison test of the Ralliart, Impreza 2.5RS, Sentra SE-R Spec V, and Focus SVT. They liked the Ralliart. It was the only one with a sub 15 second 1/4 mile time and they liked the solid structure. They said it had "excellent driveline execution, tight as a drum construction". "Makes an excellent first impresssion and shows off all that is good in Mitsubishi products." They hated the all season tires. They ranked it second behind the Focus.
I couldn't find a link on the Motor Trend web site because they're still showing the current issue as December. I'm sure the full article will be online soon. |
Thanks for the heads-up. It'll be an interesting read. I am a bit suprised that the RalliArt was faster than the Sentra SE-R in the 1/4 mile...
|
Sub 15 1/4 mile on the Ralliart? Really? What did it run and what was the trap speed?
|
interesting post. thanks for the heads up dalek. i'm impressed. did they rank the cars?
|
The Ralliart ran 14.97 at 90.88 mph. The rankings were:
Focus SVT Ralliart Nissen SE-R Spec V Impreza 2.5 RS They hated the Subaru. Bad handling and the slowest too. |
Not a bad article... and I couldn't agree more with the comments on the Scooby-Doo... Shell the cash and get the WRX.

I wonder if the ralliart lancer is underrated

holy crap 14.97 1/4 mile..thats a sweet ass number! i told my friend who loves the spec v and he got all mad

Ok guys, I was up all night thinking about buying a Ralliart after this post, but things were not adding up. Plus Ive always been suspect of Motortrend. At any rate, I spent the last half an hour looking for Ralliart performance numbers from other magazines, and two other magazines list it doing the quarter mile at 15.7 sec, which is much more reasonable and believeable that 14.97. Either Motortrend is wrong, or Mitsu gave the magazine a "special" Ralliart to test.
Sorry to burst everyones bubble. I just knew it was too good to be true, plus when I test drove a Ralliart on Wednesday it didnt feel like a dub 15 sec. car..... |

Originally posted by evomk8 The 15.7sec 1/4 mile and 7.5 sec 0-60mph times were from the official :mitsu: press release. As far as I know Motortrend is the first rag to actually track the car. I too am a bit suspicious, but this is just magazine racing. Lets get a RalliArt to the track. {blob} |
did motortrend say the 0-60 times?

The Ralliart got a
1.9 0-30 3.7 0-40 4.9 0-50 6.9 0-60 14.97@90.88 SVT Focus 2.5 0-30 3.9 0-40 5.5 0-50 7.4 0-60 15.39@90.61 SE-R SPEC V 2.4 0-30 3.7 0-40 5.2 0-40 7.2 0-50 15.32@90.37 Subaru RS 2.4 0-30 4.1 0-40 5.8 0-50 8.3 0-60 15.97@84.37 They mention that the combined effects of the great MIVEC system and the good gearing put the car ahead of all the others by a good margin... |
All of the times seem fast. I wonder if they put different wheels on them. What did they say about the handling & braking? Did they run them through the slalom or on a course?
