Downside to plus sizing?

Hi gang. I've done the searches, and learned alot. I'm new to the whole upgraded wheel thing. I am considering a set of 17x7 wheels and 205/45/17 tires. Weight for each combo is about 36.1 lbs. I've read that our stock wheel and tire combo weighs 40 lbs. I bought my Ralliart for the long warranty, and plan on keeping the car for years. I also would like to dress it up with some nice wheels, but not at the expense of gradually wearing out the suspension, shocks, etc. faster. Will upgrading to a 17" wheel from a 16" lead to the faster wearing out of my car, even though its lighter? And will I feel a noticeable difference, either positive or negative, as a result of making the change? If it's going to be detrimental at all, I'll just stick with the stock wheels, as I think they're nice for an OEM wheel. Thanks. Joe.

If they are lighter it should wear out anything... but you need to plus size meaning that you need to get smaller tires as the wheels get bigger... but not to small or else you can throw off your speedo and ABS...
