I was at the local tire shop and they told me that i shuold only expect 15-20K miles on a V or Z rated tire. Can yall tell me what tires you have owned and how long they lasted.

Stock "Yukos", not even 10k on 3 of them. They all caught road debris, including a jig-saw blade. Goodyear H's, little better - around 25k. But since performance cannot be sought in my auto Lancer w/o turbo, I've chosen some pretty awesome Pirelli's w/ a 600 tread wear pattern. Good for about 50-60k.

If you're that concerned about tread life, you don't want a Z-rated tire. I drive a LOT, and usually buy a set of tires once a year. That was one of my considerations when purchasing new tires, they had to last about 40k miles.

My stock RS-As lasted 40k. So far I've got 7000 miles on a set of BFG KDW2s, and they're doing fine.

On previous cars, I've used several sets of Falken Ziex 502, 512, and Azenis 215. I got 60k out of the 502 once. The 215 wore pretty quick, but I expected that. They were quite sticky. I've also had a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE950 last about 40k.

In winter, I've used Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q, and WR. Both were great in snow, the Q being better in snow, but the WR better in everything else. Each lasted two winters before needing replacement (somewhere around 30-35k miles).

ok, well i dont have to get 60k out of them but 30-40 would be nice. Can anyone name some good performance tires that will last that long, maybe a W or V rated.

I'm expecting to get about 40k out of my BFG KDW2s, they're W rated. The Potenza RE950 was a pretty nice tire, too, but I don't think they make it in our stock size.

Hey man,
Are you running the KDW2s in stock size? I can't seem to find a listing for those in 205/50/16 anywhere. How do they hold up in the snow?

Also, anybody have experience with the BFG Traction T/A V? I need to dump my RS-A's....NEVER AGAIN!!! I was also looking at the Fuzion HRi, but I'm unsure if they would hold up. I am looking for a long-lasting tire as well (30-40K).

Yeah, I have the KDW2s in stock size. I don't plan on using them in snow, I'm getting snow tires.

Being from Chicago, I'd really recommend that you get a set of summer tires, and another set of winter tires. The road conditions in Chicago vary so much that to get a tire that's capable of driving in snow, it's not gonna make you happy when summer comes back around. Get a sticky summer tire, and it'll suck in snow. Why compromise all year when you can get two sets of tires and get the best possible performance year-round?

If you're still looking for a year-round tire, I'd recommend either the Bridgestone Potenza RE750 or Nokian WR. The WR is more snow/wet traction than the RE750, while the RE750 is more of a performance tire.

I have the kumho MX and have 15000km (9500miles), 7 auto-x events with about 40 auto-x laps on them. I still have them on the car, but they are really shot. I only have about 1-32nd left on all 4. I have rotated every few thousand km's (2-3 weeks). The wear is very even as I had the tires flipped on the rim and swapped them sides (they are directional) The tire was great and still has amazing dry grip, but all the wet grip is gone. Great sticky cheap tire. If no auto-xing is in the future, I could have easily had about 30 thousand KM on them.

Funny you ask... I just changed my Nitto Neo's (Z-rated) 2-days ago, and got 40,000 miles out of them. Probably about 80% of that is freeway driving though. I replaced them with the same ones. I probably went a little too far with them though, and could have used a changing around 35K.
