Does evo suspension bolt right into an 05 RA? Not seeing much in the classifieds for used coilovers on our side, but alot of used stuff on "the other side" (evo classifieds)
Probably a dumb question.
Just lookin cuz Im thinkin my 132k RA needs some new struts and springs, lookin at about $600-$650 for KYBs and TEINs, figured maybe if I could grab a good set of low milage coilovers for about the same money why not?
Probably a dumb question.

The fronts bolt in but do not perform well, the rears do not bolt in.
Search this forum and you will find a thread where someone has written their experience of fitting Evo front struts on a different Lancer.

This is what us VR4 guys use to adapt to EVO suspension components. Although the 3/s and evo are similar in weight. The evo weights 3500 compared to our 2900. Might be a difference...

Try those^^

I don't think that will work for the RA I'm pretty positive the evos have a very different rear setup. Their shocks mount much higher up giving them more shock travel and thus a better handling suspension. Ours are much shorter. As for the fronts they appear similar. I'm not 100% sure though.

Was just a thought, with the mileage as high as it is i really wouldnt wanna drop 1600-2800 on good coilovers, plus I dont track the car so it would only be a vanity thing. I have a pm sent out to one of the vendors that offers an unspecified evo-m member discount, if its in the neighborhood of what standard type kyb's and springs are gonna run I might do that, otherwise I'll just do the kyb's. My car is a daily driver, 100+ miles a day, in fact i still have the original clutch, and just finally replaced the original brake pads all around about 15,000 miles ago, so its east to see that my miles are all interstate.

230k on my winter RA. So far 4k on the Megans. Better ride than the Tein/KYB.

so the front mounts up but is just too stiff/uncomfortable...
and the rear plainly doesn't bolt up....
probably not the best idea, and maybe too much work for what it's worth, BUT....
i wonder if since the'yre only longer(as stated above), what if you cut the EVO spring to match the RA's oe size or just a bit shorter(for a drop of say 1/2 or 1in or so..)and mount it on the RA strut?...probably too stiff also?...or does the EVO spring not fit on the RA struts anyway?...i do know the struts mount different but are the springs not interchangeable(even if cut "properly"?(yea i know most will think "yeah right...properly cut srpings... ha! doesn't just work like that.."....but just a thought)
but then u have a stiff rear and a OE front...
but we need stiff rear end for better handling correct..?
hence all the rear suspension upgrade parts to stiffen it up, right? and nothing really for the front kuzz u need it a bit softer on the front, right?

You're thinking on the right path Nekkidlad.
Rather than cut Evo springs though, you could just figure out the spring rate you would like and buy suitable springs, ie length, diameter and stiffness.
Places like Demon Tweaks in the UK sell springs in various sizes and rates of stiffness for cheaper than you'd think, there must be a stateside equivalent.
Another downside to cutting a spring is that if it has a progressive rate, you will lose that benefit.
If you're not going to coil overs though, I dare say KYB's & Swifts will keep you happy, if you can find Swifts.

Forget springs dam it !!
I want these:
http://www.hypercoils.com/PDF/Hyperc..._datasheet.pdf
These are made in Michigan, is Telegraph Road near by ?
http://www.racingsprings.com/Mitsubi...M9119/sku2/639
Softer up front than Swifts, but stiffer in the back.

Here is a good picture that will expain the BIG difference between the Evo Rear strut mounts and ours. Pay attention to where the struts mount.
EVO

RALLIART

Just wanted to give a visual on the differences.
OP your probably better off looking for Tein Basics or the Megans like Smike mentioned. Or there is always the KYB GR-2s and Tein S.Techs.

not too far from me, probably a 15 min drive from work of home...my wife drives on it for a few mins daily, since she works near telegraph...
(depending where on telegraph tho...) - just google mapped it...it says 15 mins from my work...lol
in fact, im going there tonight...(the gym i go to is off telegraph lol)
ps: that's $235.79 for a set of 4 springs correct?
sounds pretty good to me!....(now if i only had $235.79)
damn trans eating up my tax $...lol

I ordered KYBs and all the hardware (ran just shy of $500 US on Justsuspension.com) but I have not ordered springs. Im leaning toward S-techs for $157 on Partshawk.com, but my curiosity keeps dragging me back to those carbon frisbees that hypercoil makes. Im just a bit leery of putting anything in my car thats gonna jam my teeth together on big bumps.
