Anyway i just wanted to point out that if you scroll down in the car and driver article and click the test sheet link under downloads you'll find the specific test info. It says that they used D sport (auto) mode and brake torqued it at 3500 rpm to build boost and then launched it, which explains the 5.5 seconds 0-60. They also got a quarter mile time of 14.3 seconds. Edmunds didn't brake torque and just took off like a granny, which explains the significantly slower times.
Unbelievable this is your first post and is the greatest!

For instance, on C & D testing the impreza wrx 08, had 0-60 in 5.8 secs.
But the 5-60 was an incredibly low 7.4 secs. WHy? because the need for hugely aggresive take offs. Most of the amazing 0-60 times are accomplished doing this brutal thing (to the car) , so know we can rest assure that the 09 ralliart is capable of having greater if not better times (better than the manual impreza as shown above) than their competition. The 5-60 of the ralliart is 6.2 secs.
The quarter mile was also very very good, and with a better trap speed than the wrx.

Im happy once again!

"brake-torqueing" is not too bad if you do it right, because at least you take the shock out of the system by preloading it. The shock is usually what snaps stuff.

imo i still think the RA is a good car for the price..i mean for the cars in direct around that range. (GTI,MS6,WRX,CobaltSS) i would still pick a RA but you guys are comparing it to an evo..which you cant really do..theres a 5k gap price plus insurance you have to worry about..not to mention the evo has the highest insurance in its class..

Not sure i'd be torque braking the SST, it has no torque converter to slip so you could very-well be slipping one of the clutches in a 5K+ dollar tranny...

Plus there's that thread indicating that the transmission was overheating and failing in stop and go traffic, do you really want to stress that tranny any more than you have to?

I think the Ralliart is overpriced. For 29k i could go get a Pontiac G8 GT which has a V8 engine.

And if you want manual, its what, about 6 grand more for an EVO X?

Ralliart is over priced, they should have kept it to around the $25k mark if they really wanted to beat Subaru.

Instead they tried to match it with their MR version and came up with 27k.

I'll take a fully loaded GTS and save the gas money.

For ****'s sake, enough about the pricing. Nobody, including Motor Trend, Car and Driver or Edmunds know the true pricing of the Ralliart. Mitsubishi may not have even determined a final MSRP yet.

No but a 27k price tag seems logical because of the price the MR.

Never trust any company to do the logical thing.

Yet again you those cars DON'T compare to each other. they are COMPLETELY different targeted audiences. People wanting a RA are not typically going to be looking at a G8. Yet again this whole car is not about performance, it's an amazing overall package.

If I wanted a MR I could easily have it. But i don't. I def don't want a g8, not that their bad cars though.

Enjoy your 11mpg v8 boat over a excellent overall performance package of the RA

Im not buying a G8 i am going to buy a GTS. Im not saying i would not take a Ralliart, i would easily, but if they start out at 27k than i would wait a few years.

The G8 is rated for 15/24 MPG. The Evo GSR is rated 16/22. The Ralliart is probably 17/25, give or take. Motor Trend also shows the G8 GT pulling 0.88g on the skidpad and running to 60 in 5.3 seconds. It also has damn near 500 miles of highway cruising range at it's rated MPG. Sounds pretty impressive all around. You were saying...?
