Question Issues starting RA under 35F.

As of recent, I've noticed that the my car has been having some issues trying to cold start in temperatures around or under 35F...it seems like its getting choked up right before the engine turns over. I'll let it sit for a minute or so after a failed start, and try again and it'll start up. Or, the engine will turn over on the first try, but sounds like it wants to stall and turn off unless I give it some gas.

I've heard of cars not starting in extreme cold temperatures, but at around 30~35F? Anyone else in the colder regions notice anything like this?

Could this be a battery/wiring issue? Cause I don't think my fuel lines would be freezing at this temperature. I was gonna take my RA in for its first oil change on monday, I'll ask them to check it out then. But, until then, any input is appreciated from you guys

I experience the same thing on mine. Still starts up, so I havent bothered. Will also mention it on the first oil change.

I guess I should also add that since many of the current R/A owners on this board live in canada, they should have all experienced this if it was a production-wide problem. Anyone else? Hmmmm..

I'm at 15 mile, and Dodge Park. I've yet to see any R/A on the road. I also don't currently own one BUT... Well, I'm really considering it. Where did you buy yours from?

Mine did it too, the POS dealer also flooded it moving it from compound to compound by giving it gas and had to pull the plugs to clear it. Install a block heater, doesn't do it if its plugged in.

Madcows, I got mine from Ann Arbor Mitsubishi. I started hunting around late october asking questions at dealers. Everyone took me as a joke until I ran into A2 Mitsu, they did good. If you're seriously considering man, I highly recommend them. If you call, ask for Lee Word and tell him some asian kid from SH told you to call .

About two weeks ago, I went to Arnold Mitsu which moved from like gratiot and 696, to hall rd. They only had one, and it was parked inside, so I figured there was going to be no test drive I was looking and looking (actually, I was with my father too), but not one single sales person came over. So, screw em. Maybe i'll take your advice. Did they have multiple ones on the lot?

Also, if you see some guy in a silver 07 base impreza giving you the thumbs up, don't worry, it's probably just me

Arnold is terrible! . Not to mention Southfield Mitsu. I went down there looking around and asked questions, sales guys were nowhere to be found, and when I did find one, he didn't take my questions serious at all. So when I ran into the regional Mitsu rep @ A2 Mitsu I told him & the sales manager there all about my fiasco at other dealers. The rep wasn't too happy at all with Arnold & Southfield's performance.

When I picked up my RA from A2 Mitsu about 3 weeks ago, they had one the lancer showroom (Rotor Glow) alongside an evo mr and another one on display outside, WW if I remember correctly. They said they had already sold two (one including mine). Hopefully they'll still have an RA down there for you to test drive . These guys can get pretty much anything in for you, since they have great relations with the regional mitsu reps

Aw man that sucks, I'm afraid to have the dealer to look at it now. I'll have to check out the block heater option too.

No problems starting my Ralliart down to about -20 degC (which is -4 degF), and certainly no trouble near freezing. So far as I know, the Canadian model should start exactly the same as the US model in cold weather. Given the lack of any problems, I'd expect the car to start without problems down to -30 degC or so (that's about -20 degF), if not colder. For some reason, there's no Ralliart block heater available, which is what I would normally use when starting a car below -20 degC.

The only cold-related problem I've had was the FASTkey buttons for locking the front doors freezing up overnight, and only then after taking the Ralliart through a car wash on a day when it went down to about -15 degC (that's 5 degF) overnight.
