Window Tint

Ive been looking at tint shops for a few weeks and ive finally picked one, my next problem is deciding what tint i should get. In the state of maryland the law states that u cant go darker then 35%.
i have a black RA and i was thinking about taking the risk and getting 20%.
Id like some feedback before i make my decision

I know here it's the light transition not the percentage. Meaning, for example, if 12% is the darkest you can go legally on the rear, what happens is you get a 20% tint job done to the rear. Legal tint: 12% back, 20% quarter or rear doors, 40% driver and pass. door and than 5% strip on the windshield. This is for Louisiana of course. But what I really got was 20% rear, 30% quarter and 50% for the windshield!!! I was like OMG, when the shop relayed this info to me. I was really sceptical and was afraid I was going to hate it but I love it now. Having tint is much better than no tint at all.

The shop could have done it whatever I wanted but told me it would have to be cash $$$ and I wouldn't get a warranty and they never did the tint in the first place.

I've seen 35% tint and it looks great. But I won't lie I do wish my rear tint was darker. I still sometimes have to flip my rear view.

Personally, I'm not worried about the cops, even though they are hardcore here about tint, it's the warranty I like because if something messed up, aka broken window, they'll put new tint on at no charge or a small fee.

My .02

I have 50% on the windshield, and 20% all around. You can't tell the windshield is tinted during the daytime. At night, you can't see through any window from the outside. Visibility on the inside is still great. I did receive one ticket for tinted windows here in NJ. However, they lost the case. The main reason he pulled me over was because of my tints but he didnt know it was a secondary offense. So the case was thrown out of court.

Is it a secondary offense in every state?

I have to agree that 35% does look pretty light, but I like not having to worry about having another reason to get pulled over. I think having the windshield tinted would be hot at 35% or 50%!

Getting mine done tomorrow. Florida is starting to heat up already, so I gotta get this done before the 90's hit. Anyone have any problems with the tint getting scratched, or did they resolve that issues on the 2009's?

I've got 10% of my truck and 20% of the 7
Though im in florida and its not too big of a deal around here
The worst i've ever seen was in Ohio when they pulled my buddy over and said he can either tear it off or got a $120 ticket.

Be carefull going darker than 35%. Here in Mass they actually check your tint with a meter when you get an inspection sticker.
A black car with black interior will still look good with 35%, and no problems with cops or inspection.
good luck
