Just asking to see what you all think should be my first "mod". Choices being
*Tinting windows (probably 15% as in my old car) Edit: Should be about 200ish
*Install Stereo System (Just sitting around, straight from my old car) Edit: Should be around 225ish (not installing myself)
*ECU-Flash (500ish)

Clearly the choices will vary between person preferences but still, would like to see what the consensus is.

 

My philosophy is this....who's car does this belong to? Who makes the decision?? Why should you let them decide for you?? Not trying to be an *** or anything, just my own opinion that's all. Of course these are hard decisions to make, but you can always do this and that in time being.... Hope this helps!! lol, no i know what you mean. I just keep bouncing around with what I want to do. At first is was definitely tint, because i feel like I am in a fishbowl, then sound because I'm growing tired of the stock speakers and then obviously more power would be nice. Idk guess i was hoping this would finish swaying me one way or another.

 

i know how you feel. you need a second opinion like i normally do so i dont make a mistake. my question would be do you do more cruising or do you do more race or "spirited driving"??

 

Mostly just quick trips around town. I do have to drive 6-7 hours to get to and from school, which i where i miss the stereo the most. I'll also occasionally take a "just cause i feel like it" drive around town.

 

Tint

Makes a big imact on how the car looks. Thats my plan at least. Although i guess my mudflaps count as first mod.

 

i say go with the stereo then. not just because its cheaper , but being in school also i know thats a factor. but by what your saying it seems the stereo would fit the best. just my input

 

you have three different types of "mods". if you want performance do the pill and flash. for looks get tint and for comfort and fun get stereo

 

I was lucky, dealer tinted mine to "state law" level before I bought it (35% ) better than nothing.

Sound system is okay, loud enough for now anyway, besides, it takes a lot more than $500 to make a real difference in the sound system.

Me personally, I'd go for the pill and the flash from AMS, 50whp for $500 can't be beat. I'm still afraid of voiding the warranty.

 

without doing major stereo upgrades (like subs and amps) and shopping around. a great difference can be done to the stereo for under 500

 

Yeah, like i said i have my old stuff in my room. Fosgate 10in sub with mono amp powering it at 800RMS and Fosgate component system powered by an MTX four way at 45RMS a channel. So all I'd really pay is installation.

That's cool thought that they tinted it for you,all four windows or just the back?

 

I usually do tint first personally but the flash would be tempting, especially based on what I have heard re: the new Ralliarts.

 

All around, minus the front obviously. They didn't do it for me, they just had it done when it hit the dealership. I was just lucky enough to be the one who bought it. lol

If you have the system and can get it set up for $225 I would go that route first.

One thing I forget to mention is the break in period. It is recommended you wait 2,000 miles or so before pushing for engine upgrades. I have heard everything from 1,000-3,000, some shops will not even touch it until 1,500.

With that, I would say, wait a month or two before getting the flash and pill, and get the stereo done now.Plus if you have $500 to play with you can get the tint done as well as the stereo.

Also....very important, be careful with the tint, read up in the forums, there are some folks having trouble with streaking!!! This can be avoided but it must be done correctly!

 

I would wait on the flash if you plan on doing any other mods to your car power wise. It'll cost you more money and time in the long run. Then to me it'd be a 50/50 between the other two options. stereo is pretty decent but once you have a system you know the difference. and the car does look way better with tint. Again its totally up to you.
